Way too much for WBB. She wont pull in the amount of money needed to justify that spend. Would be better if we cut funding and shut down womens basketball.

Yea, that's what I thought. It's really not about how much they pay any WBB coach, you really just don't believe we should have a WBB program.........................at least not one that the university invests in. Man, just say that instead of trying to make some kind of stupid financial argument. LOL!

It most certainly was not.

The AD position is a results oriented position. I this case, on paper and for the intangibles, this hire appears to be very successful. To dismiss that hiring an actual HOF coach still in their prime (based off of the most recent on the court results) is anything other than performing above expectations is obtuse and lacks an understanding of what is expected out of executive leadership. He is her new boss and it takes more than money to have someone move away from their comfort zone into having a new reporting structure. There is a skill set there besides good fortune.

Well, usually the ones who are pissing money away on a program which has NEVER made a nickel and lost 4 MILLION dollars last year alone are the ones who need to justify an additional 2 1/2 MILION dollars. You don't normally have to justify NOT LOSING additional MILLIONS on the back of LSU Football and Men's Basketball.

Some of you who have short memories must not remember that LSU actually laid off support personnel and had very limited raises and I don't think any bonuses were given. Now these other programs and coaches have to sit and watch this overpaying of a Woman's Basketball Coach whose program will lose probably 6 million dollars this coming season.

This hire was to appease the Title IX crowd and the Title IX investigators. LSU simply is paying this Salary to hold Kim Mulkey up as a Trophy to say "LOOK HOW COMMITED LSU IS TO WOMEN's ATHLETICS & TITLE IX".

None of you who are so supportive of this overspending should say a word when Football Tickets increase to pay for all this.

Lol. No he didn't. We already he likes to shell out big bucks. This was a huge break for the program that she was willing to leave a successful program that she already built.

He's going to have to work a lot harder to find a coach for baseball. It seemed that got a lot of no's from people before they hired Mainieri, due the the extremely high expectations, one would assume. If he can get Mainieri to "step down" as Fargas allegedly did, and then find the right guy to lead baseball back to being a power, then I'll believe in him.

Remember, Skip Bertman hired Nick Saban. Also a no-brainer (though we didn't know the guy would go on to win this many titles). But he also hired Smoke Laval and Les Miles. Mainieri was at least successful for a while.

Skip Bertman did not hire Nick Saban, just FYI

Are you implying that Miles wasn’t successful for a while?!?

Wrong, he did not. Joe Dean was the AD at LSU until the summer of 2000. Saban was hired at LSU in November of 1999.
Skip Bertman was still the head baseball coach at LSU when Saban was hired and he didn't become the AD at LSU until January of 2001. All the credit for bringing Nick Saban to LSU belongs to one man, Mark Emmert.

Yeah, just like he made that dumbass contract with jimbo at texas am for 10 years 75 million fully guaranteed? How has that worked out for them? This is year 4 and they still are the same damn program the were under kevin sumlin lol. Theyre never going to win the sec west under jimbo. That was a massive bust of a contract. I have a feeling he made the same dumbass mistake here at lsu with hiring a women's bball coach for that much money when history shows that the program is nothing but a money pit.

Just because someone might pay a million dollars for a honda doesn't mean that the Honda is truly worth it...it just means that someone is stupid enough to pay a million for a honda.

So, now they're going to "lose six million dollars"?

What a small, little man you are.

P.S. Newsflash............football tickets go up regardless of what happens with the other programs.

LOL, strike 2.

Mark Emmert brought Saban in, Joe Dean had zero to do with it.

Joe Dean was the AD, you jerk. Woodward also had nothing to do with Mulkey's hiring. She gave all the credit to others in her press conference, and basically said Woodward just told her what she wanted to hear and got out of the way. But you people tried to say yesterday that Woodward STILL deserved credit, because he "had the sense" to let others talk to Mulkey.

NOW you want to reverse that logic and say that Dean had nothing to do with hiring Saban? If only you pack of hyenas could see just how hypocritical you are. You're the same one's who come at people like me who tell you years in advance that a hire is overrated and overpaid, and say that I'm an idiot and I don't know anything. Then, when I and others turn out to be right, you all show up and start acting like you always knew it, and you're all over the "fire" (fill in the blank coach) train.

Scott Woodward does not have a good track record. Period. You can give him all the credit in the world for this hire, if you want to. I'm not sold on him one tiny bit. Rest assured that I will remember this thread when you're all calling for his head in two years.

Sorry buddy Skip Burton did not hire Nick Saban. Mark Emmett hired Nick. Joe Dean was the AD Emmett took him along to the interview for the ride but made it very clear he Jo Dean had no decision making authority and that’s a fact. Skip is part of the reason Nick went to Miami.

Didn’t Chancellor Mark Emmert hire Nick Saban Nov. 30, 1999?

I mean does it really matter how the hire ends up happening if they get the one they wanted?

I mean it was widely reported at the time. Emmert made the commitment to spend money to build the program and make money, getting us out of the cheap good ole boy ways. You may not be aware of that since you thought Skip made the hire.

Well, if she cuts the 4 million per year loss in half she'd be well on her way.
