Back in the 80's she also climbed into Mike's cage and convinced another student not to commit suicide-by-Tiger.

Did y’all know Kim Mulkey is Kramer Robertson’s mom???

But seriously, they need to show Kramer at every game like they did his mom at the Box. Would make me smile.

I don’t think she’s going to leave her daughter and grandson in Texas unless there is a package deal for Mackenzie to come too. She also just signed the girl from Alabama yesterday.

OK, I've been calling for her to take over the Women's BB program for many years on here and now, all of a sudden, all you fartknockers are jumping on board the ship!

Better late than never, huh?

SEC Championship in year 2. National Championship in year 3!

Kim, Tim and Bill.

LSU be Back!

Worst mistake Tech ever made. Oh how they wish they could take that back.

Kudos! You are a genius! Hey everyone, I’ve been saying we should hire John Calipari to coach men’s basketball for years. Now all you fartknockers are jumping on board the ship!

WTF is wrong with you...worst not-so-humble brag about something everyone has been hoping for for over a decade. Jeez

You think Woody wouldn’t give KM complete autonomy on her staff and KM then wouldn’t bring her own daughter on in the same role she’s currently in?

Explain the signing of Jordan Lewis yesterday. You think she’s going to leave and let Baylor have her. No incentive to come to LSU. They are not going to match her pay and her family is in Waco. She will retire there. Also getting a new arena

Man did they blow it. Crazy to think La Tech of all schools could’ve been a dynasty and actually had a profitable women’s sport if they could’ve retained Mulkey. Probably biggest blunder in the history of their AD.

Strongly disagree. There would have been a point where LA Tech couldn't afford her any more. And Tech women's basketball can't be profitable in any world. They pay their football coach way under $1 million. Their current womens basketball coach makes $250k. If it hadn't been Baylor, someone would have scooped up Mulkey and paid her.

The schools like Tech, Old Dominion, Long Beach State, etc that dominated the women's game in the early 80's were eventually going to be overtaken by schools that could afford to throw money at their program. I'm surprised Tech remained a solid program til the mid 2000s

It’s Women’s Basketball.

Women’s Basketball lost a total of
4 million dollars at LSU last year alone.

Women’s Basketball lost over 15 million last year for the NCAA (not the schools, the NCAA itself) including a loss of 2.8 million on the Women’s Tournament alone. This includes the TV Revenue. TV doesn’t want to pay for it because they can’t get enough money from Advertisers who buy Commercials and pay for what is telecast.

So LSU is going to roll out the Brinks Truck for a coach to come in and even if she wins will lose more money for the LSU Athletic Department at a time when there has been a financial crisis due to Covid and the resulting reduction in Football Games and basicly no attendance, no concessions, no parking fees, etc.

Somewhere all these money losing programs have to be paid for by someone. LSU has larger priorities than spending money it needs elsewhere on Women’s Basketball.

I agree with everything you’re saying. I would rather go to work than go go to a women’s basketball game. It’s just not a sport that I enjoy watching. Whatever. Plus it’s a black hole from a revenue perspective like you said.

Anyways, if you have a chance to get Kim Mulkey you do it. And she is like 1 of 1 I’d say that about. You just can’t not do it. She brings instant celebrity status to a sport most of us don’t pay attention to. And I would pay attention. You extrapolate that against the entire fan base and she will bring in revenue. Maybe not directly to the WBB P&L, but she will be a net positive.

Ok. So all you Marketing Geniuses want to throw a few million at a Women’s Basketball Coach in financially difficult times. Yet none of you can demonstrate how an investment of millions in a historically financial black hole will ever even come close to breaking even.

Ticket sales for an LSU home Football Game of which LSU usually has only 7 per season (5 last year and zero attendance) is approximately 4 million or so per game. This means it takes the ticket sales of 1 home Football Game per season right now to make up the loss of Women’s Basketball.

LSU receives no money for athletics from the State. Therefore, money raised by ticket sales, donations, concessions and TV Revenue have to be handled responsibly or when they need money for Football Staff such as Assistant Coaches, etc. it may not be there when you need it.

So if you are driving a Toyota Camry but want to go buy a Bentley they are going to want to know how you are going to pay for it. It is as simple as that.

Exactly- And Baylor pays her $2 million per year.-Just don’t see this happening.

Read my post again and calm down.

No one is saying WBB will all of a sudden turn a profit. We’re not retarded.

However, you keep looking at it in a silo. The entire brand of LSU benefits financially when one of its teams is competing for championships. Whether that’s football or golf. The weighted average obviously benefits football, but it’s not immaterial for the lower revenue sports. Everything from merchandise to concessions to general morale about the brand can be monetized.

Just let it happen bro. It will be ok.

The only way Kim Mulkey becomes an LSU legend is if she gets hired as a football assistant.

Nobody cares about girls’ bouncey ball.
