Pitching finally stepped up at the most important time of the year. Offense is awake.

First super in a few years on top of having a guy like Skenes to set the table Saturday afternoon? Oh Lord it's fricking on.

Gonna be hot and loud inside the Box Saturday, one of those atmospheres no one has experienced, even guys on our team haven't been in this environment

One thing that I think is important is that we saw a much more pitcher friendly strike zone in the regionals than with SEC umps. This will really help LSU avoid walks against UK, which is an important element to their small ball approach.

I wonder how we handle their "get hit by pitches on purpose" strategy at the plate. They got hit by 9 pitches in one game against IU. It was egregious to the point that IU players refused to shake hands when the Kentucky players went to their dugout to tell them good series.

BTW I am not saying the UK did anything wrong, we also try to get hit by pitches, but they definitely actively try to get hit by the ball.

It will be interesting to see if Jay continues with the bludgeon to death strategy we used against OSU or if he goes more defensive. If the former, I'd expect UK to try to challenge white, dugas and travinski often. White isn't coming out, so he's just going to have to step up. I doubt Dugas comes out either, though I could see nips coming in the back 1/3 of games as a defensive replacement. Travinski bat is too valuable to take out but that either means you risk some free bases with him at catcher, put him at 1b, which doesn't improve the overall defense, or put him at DH. If at DH do you take out Beloso? He's hitting well too. Beloso at 1b is serviceable enough there, but then you're taking out either Pearson or Jobert. Pearson has been too hot and plays too good of defense, and Jobert lately has been solid (enough) at D and reliable enough (at worst) at bat.

It's an interesting problem, which may be why Jay keeps a pretty similar lineup to what we saw this weekend. Getting Milazzo in at catcher for at least one game wouldn't surprise me, but it does throw back to the question of how does that shake up the rest of the lineup.

We need to challenge the UK hitters and not give them free passes. They were "pesky" in the series we had with them earlier in the year, and they keep coming at you even when they get behind.

I think we are the more talented team but UK is the type of team you hate to play.

Key is Floyd/Hurd are much different now.

And we've got some pen guys performing better too.

only change may be Milazzo catching with Travinski to DH. Obviously, Beloso to the bench. too many good bats...what a problem to have. While Trav threw out a base stealer this past weekend, he allowed too many runners to advance by dropping balls. I doubt Jay allows that in Game 1.

i also think with Pearson being a hot bat, he stays to allow Morgan to play 1B. Being a "small ball" type of team, solid corner infields are really important. and white is what he is...he ain't coming out.

Beloso is hitting .500 over the last 4 games. Can't take him out right now.

I hope so. But we really need to minimize the fielding/defensive problems against the small ball approach we’re going to see. It could get interesting/frustrating if one or two errors allow them to keep it close if our bats falter even just a little.

agree that is a tough decision. would you sit Travinski? Or pull Pearson, and Morgan to left, and Beloso at 1st?

i love the fact that there are so many options right now.

You're not taking Travinksi or Beloso out of the lineup right now. If you put Milazzo into the lineup to catch then either Travinski or Beloso has to go to 1B and put Tre in the outfield to replace Pearson or Jobert. And you really don't want to take out either of those two bats either.

I think Jay will keep the lineup the exact same but if he does insert Milazzo and takes out someone I trust he will put together the lineup he feels gives us the best chance to win.

I hope we have a three hour rain delay right before first pitch and the wine and cheese crowd leaves and doesn’t come back. And the real LSU fans go out in the parking lot and soak for a while. That would be wild

Their coach is an IRL dickhead bitch who I’d flying knee in the sternum if I had half a chance, so it’s no surprise their players are the same way

Travinsky was letting balls bounce off his mitt. It's not like it was a bunch of balls in the dirt. Also he didn't do that all season. I think it's fixable.
