The Advocate - “Now that the season is completed, I’ll do a full evaluation of our staff members” Kelly said. “Obviously we’ve got to make some decisions on offense. Then a full evaluation of our defensive staff.”

Obviously Kelly is prolonging making any decisions regarding his defensive staff, almost as if Kelly is hoping House suddenly decides to on his own move on. Am I reading this wrong?

Kelly makes too much money to to wait and hope things happen so he can move forward with his plans. He's going to do what he wants on his timeline. "Hope" will play no part in it. Now you may not like the decisions he makes, but he's not hoping with his tail tucked in the corner

Well, we currently need a new OC, and college football is built around the offense in todays game.

He might not make any moves until February. Just accept that and then you’ll be pleasantly surprised if he does it sooner.

Probably.

Seems like you’re missing some context too. I read from his post game conference that he hasn’t made any changes on defense yet to keep continuity through the bowl game.

House is gone

Notice the word "full" in full evaluation of defensive staff. To me this means hes not looking at the obvious issue (house) he's going to fire a few position coaches and blame the season on them. House will be retained, otherwise he wouldn't need to throw that word in there

Could be that BK has told him he would not be retained and is giving him a chance to find another job so he can avoid being fired.

The Les Miles special.

NFL is wrapping up, House could probably find a good landing spot there.

I am very critical of the defensive staff, but it is possible that House is not the problem and the real problem is with the position coaches. It doesn't matter who's calling plays if the players don't know technique. An overhaul of all the defensive position coaches would be welcome at this point.

When it comes to things like this, you can't exactly take the response at face value.

For most LSU fans, “Hope” is all we have that the correct decision will be made.

But what if he used "full" as in "full house" meaning House is going to be the primary person evaluated!?!?!?!?!

I swear yall putting stock into every single word he says off hand in a press conference is going to drive yall nuts.

I think you are reading this wrong. There is already an opening at OC. So he's saying that is "obviously" a decision that has to be made, regardless of any evaluations.

That's a good point. House was well-respected before coming here, and the Kentucky posters (who had him as a DC) have expressed surprise that his defense is so bad here this year.

And we've seemed to swing and miss at every position group this year. Perkins is the most obvious example, but honestly every player has looked worse than expected. I think the one exception is that Jordan Jefferson was supposed to be decent bench, and he has been our best D Lineman when he plays.

Yeah and it's the smart thing to do. Easier to attract top coaches if they know you're not going throw them under the bus after kicking them out the door without a job.
