BK is basically saying he was on path to 350 but the rotator cuff put a kink in that plan.
Helps explain the drinking in his office though.
Also, that statement was to scare off anybody that might have been thinking of hiring him in the future. He had months to think about what he would say in his post firing interviews, and that was not off-the-cuff by a longshot.

Les Miles and Ed Orgeron won National Titles here… that’s all anybody needs to know about Kelly’s coaching ability.
Les and Ed O at least put the hours in.
Kelly thought he could put it on cruise control and still win.

Our last 2 head coaches are subhuman pieces of garbage.
Phuck all the way off.

Yes, a change of scenery might be good for him.
I understand it's a much different situation, but way back in the 1970s, most the fans of my high school were glad to see the head coach leave.
He took a job as head coach of a school about 90 miles to the south and much to the surprise of many, turned things around there. He was voted to that school's Hall of Fame.
Northwestern in the Big 10 might be a better fit for Kelly.

Never change Kelly.
Dude completely danced around the assertion, much like he did his whole LSU career. I’m now fully convinced he was day drinking and spending offseason recruiting windows on the beach.

Obviously reads TD. No one else uses 350 in normal conversation.
My uncle used to. But he got hit by a train and died, pieces everyware.
Pretty sure anyway.

Where can you listen to the whole interview?

we want that, but after 2020 and 2021 (5-5, 6-7), it was completely unrealistic to expect.
With the # of teams in the CFB playoffs, it is not unrealistic to expect us to be in the field every year. Ok, it there's a miss every 7-8 years, no big deal.

We hired Kelly to fix that, get us back in spitting distance.
NO. Low Flyin' Brian was hired to win a natty if not multiple natties.

Correct. Normal people don’t overuse anything daily that was created in 1998.

Kelly reminds me of the lazy professor, who let's his Teaching Assistants prepare all his teaching material, his Reaserch Assistants do all his publishable research and he just shows up in class unprepared, teaches some nonsense, and does not give a damn about how much students learn.
Now this may work fine for a tenured professor with no actionable key performance metrics and no incentive or motivation to do better, but for an LSU HC that is a disaster.
Kudos to Gov. Landry, Verge and the new LSU president for pulling this off.

quote:Yeah... I never felt that. I know we always get excited and tell ourselves we're going to win out, but I just didn't get the sense that Kelly was brought in for that reason. I never saw him as an exciting guy, his past teams were never exciting. They were solid.quote:

As I said above, I thought at the time he was brought in to fix things. Orgeron had let the internals of the program go to shite, the structure etc. That could have been a program killer. LSU went out and got the most experience guy available, a guy with little to no flash, but a long history of consistency. Seemed to me they paid a premium for that consistency, to restore LSU back into the top third of the SEC at an important time, with us adding OU and UT to the conference. That would keep us in position to make future runs, instead of becoming what Auburn and Florida have become.
And by and large, he did that. He just never showed signs of taking that next step, so we cut bait.

Let the Dude rehabilitate his reputation and get hired again, so we don’t have to pay him.(as much)

At least most of their former players liked Les Miles & Ed O. When was the last time you heard anyone say anything nice about Kelly?
Posted on 3/7/26 at 8:30 am to HueyLongJr
Kelly thought 10 wins a season was the magic number to say FU to the fans & media. He sucked so bad that he couldn’t he even pull that off except for his 1st two seasons.
