Now do the game but where Bama doesn't have Najee Harris or Tua Tagovaiola

I said the same thing, that CEH was just a big part of this win as Joe. CEH makes Bama guys miss him behind or at the line of scrimmage on half of his carries. He alone turned 2nd and 12 into 2nd and 2 or 3. And he did this over and over again.

Props to you, CEH!!

Just rewatched he game and without the play of Tua and Smith we would have boat raced Bama by 5 TD's.

That was a dumbass post.

Think of it like this, in the same scenario if Burrow and CEH having off games. If they don't play Tua or Nagee, what do you think the score would be?

Tua, Nagee Harris, and 3 if their top 4 receivers are Jr.s, it's possible they declare for the draft.

Setting up Brennan vs Mac Jones next year. I like our guy with our weapons in that matchup.

I mean, it was a pretty close game.

But, consider that the game could have been 33-0 if LSU doesn't give up a punt return TD, and a 64 yard TD as a result of Stingley looking towards the sideline at the snap.

So, while there are a bunch of plays that could have tipped the outcome, LSU controlled that game from the beginning. And, while Alabama had some mistakes, LSU's mistakes hurt more and were unforced.

Haven't rewatched but CEH was the MVP for me. Burrow was the fricking man but CEH was just on another level. He truly dominated. Clutch, too. Legendary performance

That's me too - CEH has the qualities I can appreciate - Burrow's cerebral excellence is foreign to my way of understanding = I grew up in the 40s and 50s when 'having to pass' was a sign of weakness. Now it is the entire basis of success. And I admittedly do not know the subtleties.

But I do recognize the absolute excellence of CEH at my gut level - he was AWESOME - and we could not have won without his contributions.

Not even casting a little shade at Burrow - he is excellent at a level I cannot comprehend - and certainly could not have won without his contributions either.

But CEH was awesome = and plays an equal part in their success.

Man we have some chicken little fans. Here are all the ways they almost beat us.

Two dropped Judy touchdowns.

If Chase decides not to play because of REC influence.

Asteroid falls out of sky and clobbers joe in the head.

None of those happens so, we good.

I definitely should've been a 13 point game without the dumb bump and run by Stingley for the quick TD.
But it easily could've been 20 point game without the sideline distracting Stingley.

Heck you could even say the Punt return was a little freakish. LSU thought Waddle was going down and they pulled up and didn't keep containment. But to Waddle's credit that was all him. LSU completely broke down after the face mask on Waddle initially.

So Bama had 2 or 3 very lucky plays and 2 of them lay at the feet of the defensive coaching staff.

Did you see where bama scored on a bomb against stingley when he wasn't ready and was looking towards the sideline?

This is one that I blamed Stingley for in real time = but in watching the replay after hearing the 'trick play' explanation it was not Stingley's fault at all. He was doing what the coaching staff had told him to do - looking at them for confirmation(?) of defensive plan.

Saban's staff had discovered a "tell" in our preparation - if THEY looked at the sideline staff for 'instruction' then WE looked at our sideline staff for updated instruction. They faked a 'look' and we did as instructed and as a result got the snap off while Stingley was looking at sideline staff - as he was supposed to do.

This was a one-off trick play - will never work again.

And Bama's final TD - I am sure that it was not Stingley's decision to play the wide receiver up close at the line of scrimmage without any safety help behind him - that was - again - a coach's call. Nothing he could do about it other than being supernaturally perfect.

That was a totally freak play from the git-go - cannot be duplicated ever. And no defense can accommodate for it.

It was the equivalent of a space-time warp where a velocity is instantly re-directed in a way that cannot be done without some external force. No person alive can be running full speed in one direction and in an instant change to running at the same (or greater) speed in a direction at 90deg to previous path.

The 'face mask" event resulted in exactly that - if the placer had NOT even been there to grab the face mask he would have been tackled within 5-10 yards.

HOWEVER - by instantly transforming his path to some OTHER path, he had a clear route to the goal line that gave him the opportunity to use his speed.

Hell, even *I* could have made an additional 30 years on that play - but I'm nowhere near fast enough to not get caught from behind.

But more importantly - no coverage scheme should be set up to PREVENT a score for that kind of event - If you do that, you will be weakening your overall defense for the remainder of the existence of the universe.

Freak plays cannot be schemed for - if they happen, someone gets screwed = unpredictable world we live in = thank GOD!!!

I once witnessed a high school game where something similar happened - kid returning a punt down the left sideline got hit hard by a big lineman

he bounced off and was instantly running at the same speed across the field toward the other sideline - cruised in for a TD untouched by any defensive player at all.

Thought to myself - well - I will never see anything like THAT again.

Very true!!! Defend those low percentage plays and it's a blowout and the robot Saban doesn't show up for the presser. LSU looked like no.1 team outside of those 3 plays. Offensively they looked confident and in control the entire game. I never saw any team against bama get across mid field faster than LSU.

Just saying that if we can continue improve both our defensive and offensive lines with better recruits, we can still beat Bama in coming years without Herculean efforts from our stars. Burrow suffered 5 sacks and probably should have been sacked another 3-4 times but was able to escape. I could be wrong but I only remember us being able to sack Tua 1 time, and had we been able to pressure more, he wouldn't have had the time to sit back and throw the long passes that he did. I could have swore some of Bama's DE's jumped offsides but I suppose they just timed the count perfectly. BTW, Tua throws the deep ball better than any that I can remember.
