Not true at all. Plenty of players improve greatly their senior year. Have a dominate year, get drafted earlier, bigger payday. And a team will hang on to you longer if you were an early draft choice.

Me neither. 1st and 2nd rounders should definitely go. 3rd rounders have the tough decisions. Almost everyone else should return to try to improve draft stock. There are a few exceptions here and there.

Some people graduate early and people can always go back to finish their degree. It's no ones business whether someone wants to leave early are not. Nothing is guaranteed.

Getting cut by the XFL might actually be a good thing.

He would be a rookie and probably on an NFL practice squad while teams where still evaluating him like what happened in his actual real rookie season.

But I guess you both could be right. Same results just different year.

What would that last year of LSU done to make the difference though? He wasn't going to get bigger/faster/more athletic. And if it's technique or fundamentals, he undoubtably would have been better coached at the NFL level in OTA and Rookie mini-camp than in college.

True but hopefully O can start changing this. Did a good job last year keeping a few upperclassmen on board.

think Malachi should have stayed as well. Needed maturing.

I agree but the offense we were rolling out didn’t lead to maturation

just got word that Toby Weathersby has been cut from the XFL team that originally drafted him.

I can almost guarantee that if he had stayed his senior year, he would probably still be in the NFL right now
1. You think 1 year of college is the difference between being in the NFL and unable to make an XFL roster?

2. Can you clarify "almost guarantee" that he would "probably" be on an NFL roster?

Well our juniors that could leave are Jefferson Clyde Moss Grant Fulton I think is a jr isn’t he ?

Only one that should stay is moss due to proving he’s durable enough

Realistically if we win it all you’ll likely have 3-5 guys who leave who most fans believe “shouldn’t” leave

I’ll call my shot with the following guys:

Clyde, Jefferson, Thad Moss, Sahdiq, Klavon, Shelvin, Logan, Phillips, Delpit and maybe Stevens.

I can’t remember if Kris is a senior or JR but that kids a 1st rounder.

He's had 2 years at that level and cant make an XFL team. What do you think his senior season would have gained him? This is a ludicrous take. Also, Jefferson will be gone before round 3 probably. Totally different scenario.

A few people named Burrow. I think it was McShay that had him as a udfa or 7th round rated qb if he had left early as a junior. Now hes about to be the first or second pick overall.

Think he benefited from coming back? He’s not any bigger or faster as someone said earlier.

A LOT!

For starters, he would be coached as a STARTER, getting all of the reps. The guys coaching him would have their livelihoods dependent on how he does on Saturday and thus would be invested in him. In contrast, by going too early to the NFL and not being picked with a high draft pick, he's a third stringer or practice squad body unlikely to see the field and thus unlikely to affect anyone's livelihood. It cost the gM nothing to get him on his team so there is no investment in him.

And, just like many other Tigers before him who left too early, he's out of the league in 18 months.

So do we but a college degree would serve him better than the empty volumes of luck sent his way. OPs point is valid. If he stays, the worst he can do is walk away with a degree. The best is he walks away with a job in the pros and a degree to fall back on. Seems like an easy choice.

If you are guaranteed 1-2 rounder, get the $$$. If you have any chance of not earning through your 1st contract, stay and improve yourself

Blame Les for establishing that culture. Hopefully juniors returning will be a trend with O.

There's no question about that. Miles recruited that way. He sold these kids on the idea that if they came to LSU that they'd get to the NFL in three years. Consequently that's all they thought about and LSU became known as a place to play in order to make it to the NFL. In the meantime, Alabama became known as a place to go in order to win national titles. Hopefully Coach O's changing that culture although it'll always be a part of college football from here on end.

Your gonna get downvoted but you are correct. It’s about investment. Weathersby stays and he gets drafted. Once a team drafts you they are more patient

You are correct in general. If it’s marginal at all. They should stay
