Juniors leaving early befuddles me

sure, i understand a lot of guys leave early for financial reasons but what i struggle with is the number of guys that leave early that aren't drafted that high. today i heard that both ferguson and the freak are likely to leave. they just don't seem to be that good. what's up? it seems that lately all of our real good, good and kinda good guys are leaving early.

Big mistake IMO if they leave

I agree Les needs to step up his recruiting within the program.
Having said that, I use Minter as an example. He would have increased hid draft stock had he stayed and all he is doing now is playing special teams BUT i think his contract got him a million bucks this year.

Spurrier said in a interview not long ago that he used to only encourage guys to go early if they were first or second rounders. Now he says to go if they have a shot at the first five rounds. Unless there's a chance that they'll significantly improve their stock, they should go. Risking a career-ending injury and never getting paid for having NFL talent is terrible.

so LSU only recruits poor guys? give me a break. my point is that it seems that LSU loses a lot more guys early than other schools. example; alafrickinbama. why do we lose so much more that they do? we seem to be losing guys that are not stars and other schools, like bama, uga, usc, a&m etc don't lose near the talent LSU does. but dis me instead of giving us your thoughts. it's ok, a-hole.

the players are not doing it for money.
they are pressured by the hanger-ons who want the money. momma, daddy, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, cousins, neighbors, best friend, second best friend, wife, girlfriend, baby's mommy, 2nd baby's momma, great-uncle, brother-in-law uncle,
should I go on?
it is a greedy gang frick. the hanger-ons have been waiting all their lives for the lottery. they know that this chance will ever happen again. they pressure these young men and the lottery money all disappears down the drain.

His height would've prevented him from going any higher and how much better could he have really played here anyways. Minter is a horrible example, someone like Simon would've been better.

Let's be honest, to some of these guys, going to class isn't that much fun either.

I'm usually the first guy to say that people are too sensitive and too quick to say "racist", but that's pretty racist.

Keep in mind that for some of these guys even getting signed to an NFL scout team for $50K is more than they'll make anywhere else.

Outside of Minter and perhaps Faulk, most of them made the right decision.
Mingo has been great and went high.
Reid is doing well and went high.
Mathieu was going to have questions either way.
Logan is about where he is at, but not horrible choice.
Ford and Ware weren't going to go higher than they did and were going to continue getting reduced roles this season.
Minter might have been best suited coming back and so would've Faulk, but each had their reasons.
In the end, they may have simply not been happy at LSU and not wanted to be a part of the team anymore. After last season, especially the Bama game, I couldn't honestly blame them for leaving.

We could only recruit kids who have lots of money but then we'd be about as good as an ivy league team.
And LSU doesn't lose more kids than these other schools. Last year happened to be a record haul of jr's leaving but just about all of them are getting paid.

Spot on!
The BCS fiasco topped by last years Miles poor coaching and poor decisions--- just time to leave. It gets old to play your heart out and deserve to win, but poor coaching decisions and all out stubbornness removes your chance to win games. Third and Chavis and prevent defense also to blame---See Clemson, Alabama 2012, Georgia 2013. Gets old!

20 year old kid.....should I stay in school...playing for free while earning the university and ncaa millions while risking a career ending injury or I can go to the nfl and make millions or worst case scenario...play for the league minimum.....4 to 500 thousand dollars.......ill take the latter.
