I can’t see that it would
There are going to be other rostered players that don’t play
They just have to be on the roster for today’s deadline from what I understand

I only got invested in this yesterday because I was bored at work & recently was a juror in Judge Jorden’s court

Too much drama for me but you can’t make up rules as you go & not apply them across the board

Do I have this order of events right?

1. College players from high school class of '22 who were out of eligibility either had to retire from football or try to make an NFL roster
2. Players who attempted to make an NFL roster went through draft and camps
3. NCAA announces 5/5 rule in June '26 after draft and some camps, which includes high school class of '22
4. Those players who chose to retire are welcomed back to college football
5. Those players who chose to try and make an NFL roster but only made it through minicamp are welcomed back to college football
6. Those players who chose to try and make an NFL roster but only made it through training camp are left with no options
7. Those players with no options sued the NCAA for another year of eligibility based on 5/5 and their peers being named eligible
8. Hundreds of players sued in over 6 states
9. Once SEC made a rule mid-stream about “NFL players” playing in the league, the SEC was added to the lawsuit by the players hoping to play in the SEC
10. The players won and received TRO to allow them to play
11. The court order also stipulates colleges cannot choose to not roster those players based on fear or retribution from NCAA or SEC
12. These players are now going to be rostered, but there is nothing stopping programs from not playing them

Wrong on number 4. None are being welcomed back. The sec is treating the nfl players differently because they get to say we can’t have former pros coming back. My understanding from the hearing is that no year 22 players were given retroactive eligibility.

Dick Vitale doesn’t even know his own name. Can’t expect him to appreciate the nuance of what is going on

Not that it matters......but

The way this rule change was written was meant to take into affect 2027. So this 2026 season still fell under the old 5 for 4 rule.
Those 2022 kids who played their four seasons under the old rules were not welcomed back regardless if they went pro (to any extent) or not. The only 2022 kids welcomed back were those that redshirted and were going to play their 4th season this year.

So you have kids from the 2022 class both that went pro and some that never sniffed a pro anything suing.

I think the NCAA knew it was stupid to put this out in June of 26' and it not applying this season so that's when the argument/excuse of "muh they went pro" began being used to get some wins on their side.

Most like the new rule. However like everyone said at the time, the NCAA should've waited until January 27' or so to put it in writing if they wanted it to apply then.
They were warned before they put this out in June this was going to happen.

Careful. USC is a private Big10 school in the country’s second largest market with more money than GAWD AND TEXAS combined. Oh, and a recruiting stranglehold on just about everything west of the Rockies (when they choose to take advantage of it).

I have no idea why U$C has farted around for the last two decades, but they are scary when provoked.

I have a client in Jackson and I'll be out there quite a bit over the next four months. This should be fun.

I wonder if Vitale is surprised by the ruling in Mississippi giving their star QB a 6th year, while not liking LSU to give players a 5th year they are entitled to by the present NCAA ruling. Such selective nonsense.
