Juan Johnson
Why are Tiger fans so ignorant they can't even get a guy's name right? It's Ju'Juan. If you want to use a nickname, some folks call him JuJu.
My only concern with JuJuan is ball security. But he has a coach now who maybe can drill that into him.
ETA: also he played QB his whole time at LCA so I am not sure he has ever taken a handoff.

he was a LA QB which means he was the most athletic guy in his team and needed the ball in his hand.
Hell, Craig Steltz was a beast at RB at Rummel. 171 yard against Jesuit in the second half in 2003.
Kevin Faulk was just one of many QBs in high school that wound up at RB, WR, or DB in college. It’s not a big deal. And like Les said, most guys just want to get on the field and play football.

i'll add corey webster, started at WR & ended up all american at CB
And I’ll add Jack Hunt. In fact both players that caught the bluegrass miracle switched positions at LSU.

Maybe he plays a little of both positions?

For a guy who was an incredible offensive player in high school, who I've never heard anything about his defensive abilities, I thought it was a waste to have him on defense. This guy needs the ball in his hands. I don't know how much playing time he'll get this year, but I'm very interested to see how this goes.

Laron Landry was a QB at Hahnville

He was an elite running quarterback, along with his passing numbers. I'm not too worried about whether or not he's taken a hand off to run the ball. I'm confident he'll figure that out.

What's the deal with Durham?

There’s an SI cover with like 6 HS QBs on the cover from the 03 title team I believe from the 01 class. Non of them played QB for that team.

Nothing, we had 3 running backs, we needed another one.

I always wonder how this makes a player feel. Like, they came to a school to be developed at a specific position. Something happens and now they have to switch positions just to help the team. On one hand, it shows a lot of character that they're willing to do that. But also feels like it might not be in their best interest for their future.
It’s a fair question, but I’d be willing to bet that most of these kids are willing to do what it takes just to get on the field, no matter which position

Heard this as well. Dude was a stud in HS and knows how to handle the ball and score!

Kid is electric with the ball in his hands. Love it.

If I recall, the not-so-official depth chart had Johnson third at Star behind Burns and Toviano. Now that he’s not at Star, it’ll be interesting to see what changes are made to the depth in the secondary.
Hopefully Toviano will get many, many snaps Saturday.

I watched nearly every game he played in high school. He is a fantastic runner. A lot of his runs were passing plays that he took off on. A lot were designed runs. But he did fumble a bit when he was scrambling, he often ran with the ball out away from his body in traffic trying to make people miss. That is something he has to correct and I am sure they will.

I am too but it may mean he has some hiccups initially. I'm just trying to tamp down the expectations a little. I hate the way this board will turn on a player at the drop of a hat.

Where is Holly?
Is he practicing?

Even with the three players in front of him, he is an outstanding prospect, so let's see how he does there. He did play there in high school and was impressive.
It appears doubtful that Holly will return this season, so having another RB available is a good idea.
