don’t see what the fuss is. 2 of the last 3 years we sucked. It was a 3 YEAR REVIEW. He loves LSU and Kelly and made it clear we’ll be back there VERY soon. Some of you are really REALLY sensitive.

My only argument is using a ‘3 year metric’ as criteria, but considering the 2020 season is included in that metric is where it’s Bs for me. That season and any stats in it need to be thrown out the window for all teams when comparing them.

Daniels for Heisman is the same as KJ Jefferson for Heisman last year. He would have to jump from 17 tds to 30-40 tds while keeping his 10 rushing tds. It's just not realistic.

2020 should not be used as a metric for any team…

99.9% of college football fans felt the exact same way about Burrow in March 2019...

What does 20 and 21 teams have to do with 2023? That's no more relevant than going back to 2019. Coach O is gone. The quarterbacks and a lot of other players are gone. The portal means you can change your lineup immediately. I don't know how good LSU will be next year but I do know that it is a team with a lot of new players and coaches. Pate may well be right but it won't be because his logic is correct. If I had to guess, I might put us at 8 or 9. There will be a lot of tough, hard games and which way the football bounces is a tossup at this moment in time.

Don’t take it out of context. He’s using a 3 year period. LSU had .500 and sub .500 seasons before BK came in.

That’s fine and, all. But he went further back when measuring teams that he had higher than LSU and seemed to completely disregard other bad seasons for other teams. He was wildly inconsistent in his reasoning. And there is 0 way you can say LSU isn’t back to being a top 5-10 program after this past season alone.

Can we also keep in mind that LSU plays in the SEC West? Where since 2015 there has been only one other non-SEC (Clemson) team to win a natty. So to have all those other teams over us, with their division strength alone is ridiculous.

I mean if you scale the entire country even using a 3 year window it’s hard to not have LSU in the top10. But damn LSU was in such a bad place when he took the job. It’s amazing how he turned it around so fast

Pate's top 10 programs

As soon as he putt Pen St at 7 when they went 11-11 in 2021 and 2020 I paid no attention to this list.

He's using different criteria for different programs to justify his take

Pen State was .500 combined in two of those seasons and is ranked 4 spots ahead of LSU

Call it fuss, call it bitching or whatever you want but the bottom line is that it doesnt make sense.

2020 and 2021 were the outliers for LSU
2019 and 2022 are the outliers for Penn State

BUT, that program is significantly better than LSU right now?

Nah, GTFO outta here with that bullshite

His ranking was based on the past 3 years. The past 3 years, lsu was 5-5, 6-7, and 10-4. Now do u think it’s worthy of a top 10 ranking compared to those other schools?

The problem with his approach is that on the one hand, he’s all about saying that the results of the past three years are almost everything in his rankings, but then in the other hand, he goes to great lengths to separate 2019 from this team…that LSU has basically shed practically every remnant of that season from its present sense.

But the same can be said of 2020 and 2021.

You can’t hold those seasons against the program when evaluating it today while at the same time saying you can’t look to 2019 and what LSU got rid of since then. It’s not consistent.

Now I don’t care what this guy thinks…the only opinion that matters is the CFP poll.

But he’s being inconsistent in his evaluation process.
