Being passing game co in an explosive offense would be 10xs the resume builder than being WR coach at fricking Baylor...who will be average at best.
Coaches do favors all the time. Aranda probably hired him to gibe6him bargaining power against LSU.

I really don’t get this.

If we wanted him why let him leave?

Happens all the time. Manny Diaz did that shite a couple years ago for a HC position.

No one is going to be upset about a position coach going back for a higher title

He wasn’t an already established coach, so he doesn’t have the luxury of waiting it out. He wants to upgrade this year, so he had to sign with Baylor to secure the job.

If he truly wants to come to LSU, it still makes sense for him to accept that job for his. Own ability to move up the ladder. However, that doesn’t mean he will come back to LSU if offered, but it makes the most sense from his position.

Regardless, that stuff happens all the time, now.

difference is that the Miami HC position wasn’t already open when he left. Hell it wasn’t even rumored to possibly open up any time soon.

that’s why this one a little different than most.

all 3 parties (O, Aranda, Munoz) know each other quite well.
Which is why i would have thought they all spoke prior to Munoz taking the Baylor spot. Just out of professional courtesy and respect for each other.

It’s also different in that it’s a head coach vs a WR coach. No one gives a shite. It’s a promotion for Munoz, no one would blame him for taking that.

which is all the more reason to think him and O (and even Aranda) would have spoken prior to him leaving.

seems as though Munoz would have communicated his desire for PCG (if he wants that particular position).
at which time O would have theoretically told him how strong of a candidate he might be for that gig.

Maybe we had someone we expected to hire decided to turn us down.

Maybe Munoz was not expecting the Fedora hire and wanted more of a role in the game planning at Baylor

Could be a number of things.

Pelini also said LAST WEEK that he wasn’t going to be LSUs DC. Things change.

But O didn’t tell him he had the job 100 percent and probably told him when they were going to start interviewing and make the hire. Meanwhile Aranda was offering a guaranteed job. If he waits for O’s answer then the Baylor job would be filled so I don’t blame anyone in the situation.

Aranda is trying to fill his staff and has the guy he wants.

Munoz wants a full time coaching position and Aranda is offering that now and O is telling him maybe.

O wants to take his time and make sure he brings in the right guy that may or may not be Munoz

definitely a possibility, and i admittedly had not thought of that.

don't you think that maybe that was a question Munoz would have asked prior to accepting a position on the offensive staff?
Hell the two of them were officially announced less than 24 hours apart from each other.

Newsflash: Coaches LIE to the public/media. All of them do it. Especially when it comes to possibly taking a job prior to all of the i's being dotted and t's being crossed.

I’m just throwing out possibilities. Neither of us know what he is thinking or what O is thinking. But to act like it’s outside the realm of possibility is silly.

Yeah no shite. I’m glad you’re smart enough to figure that out. I’m suprised you haven’t been able to figure out that coaches are out to advance their own careers and if a better opportunity arises they may take it, even if they already took another job within the past few days

What is the timeline you would need to say that things can change?

To me, and I’m just reading between the lines, but it sounds like O is a little upset about how Aranda is digging around his staff. Imo something happened with Meatball & O May have taken it personal.

I would give O credit for being a little more intelligent than that.

Not so much the idea that he’s taking guys. More along the lines of negations with Meatball. He was said to go Baylor, then back to LSU. He was Recruiting in California for LSU the day before he went back to Baylor officially. That’s fishy

O being open about Munoz coming back when his twitter avatar is already him in a Baylor uniform is fricking weird. O is never that open about anything especially when actually discussing specific names. To me it’s a big frick you to Aranda

Meatball was gone one day per reports then not gone for 2-3 days then gone. Might have just been mulling his opportunities privately.

I'm surprised that you honestly can't fathom that 3 men who were on the same staff a whopping two weeks ago probably spoke about this ahead of time.

3 men who by all accounts are very cordial and respectful of each other and had very good working relationships.

It's a whole lot easier to believe O is name dropping in the media because that's the name fans wanted to hear than it is to believe that this wasn't discussed prior to Munoz taking the job at Baylor. Because as you just agreed, coaches lie to the media.
