Jordy is great friends with Tack Minor who is Denver Harris’ step father. He said LSU hasn’t been practicing for a week and Denver Harris has been involved in 3 shoving incidents in practice. He said there is a reason he is 3rd string right now and it’s not because of talent. He needs to get his attitude right and his first incident was battling Shelton Sampson for a ball and Shelton trips and falls and Harris just stands over him instead of helping his teammate up. He said a lot of the coaches were upset with him and he needs to build his relationships with his teammates. Jordy said this is all about trust between the coaches and Harris and he is failing in that department right now.

I know this might sound bad, but are we surprised by this? We knew he had several problems last year at A&M and just assumed that he would totally change by coming to LSU?

I was surprised Brian Kelly took him but I know Harold Perkins was a big reason for that. Harold is the Patrick Peterson to Harris like Peterson was to Tyrann Mathieu when the Cardinals drafted him.

Maturity takes time....keeping him 3rd team and letting him play special teams may be what the young man needs

If he didn't learn a lesson in College Sta., that is a very bad sign.

I don't think we assumed, but we did have hope that being benched for behavioral issues at A&M would humble him and a change of scenery would give him a new start and he would do things differently with a clean slate.
That said, some shoving incidents and standing over a guy you were covering after an incompletion is stuff that can't happen in a game obviously but I don't think it's anything that can't be corrected, you don't want to remove his edge completely. At least it's an improvement from drifting through a parking garage and smoking pot in the locker room.

If the worst thing Harris is doing right now is shoving his teammates and standing over them I would consider that a win considering the shite he was doing at A&M. It's a process.
