What people don’t realize is that a top tier football program helps the university financially. You can look squarely at what Bama has done in the last 10 years. Win a pool national championship and your enrollment will rise, which will in turn generate more revenue for a school to use. Most programs are now investing in different engineering and medical schools to help further develop ways to keep players healthy and on the field. These schools can then patent and profit.
LSU athletics should not have to be guilted because the university/state aren’t paying teachers enough and squandering money.

Good football teams increase exposure and increase application rates.
The University of Alabama has exploded since they hired Saban. The numbers are staggering.

And that's just the past 2 days
Kinda feel sorry for him actually
Professor Mann is like most Democrats and is suffering from TDS.
He’s not mentally well. Trump broke him.

He doesn’t teach. He indoctrinates students about which political positions are acceptable, and preaches that the ends justify the means with regard to lying about his political opponents.

quote:Yup. Why can't SJWs see that LSU Athletics is a net-positive for the University? It's that simple. If you look at it that way, then every dollar spent on the Athletics side is about the P&L impact. If newer lockers get better recruits, and better on-field results, and more suites sold, then the Academics side benefits.
No more absurd than the billions of dollars poured into the movie industry yearly
And that's just the direct $$$ benefits.
There is also the well-documented enrollment benefits associated with successful sports.

Oddly enough I don't really remember any political indoctrination at LSU. I had Mann for a class or two in the 90s. Maybe I was stoned or hungover and not paying enough attention.

Way to go Joe. These overpaid hacks that live off public funds extorted from hardworking taxpayers all the while spewing their socialist claptrap need to be called out for the hypocrites they are.
Meanwhile, the football program makes money, funds itself, and actually gives back to the University general fund, to the benefit of hacks like Mann.

With the exception the movie industry is strictly in the entertainment business.
Colleges are supposed to be in the education business over all else. That is their purpose.
I get what he is saying, but what are you gonna do? People care more about being mindlessly entertained than being educated.

student loans are federally backed. you cannot default on them now.
this has lead to a MASSIVE windfall to the commies in academia, and almost all of it has gone to creating administrators which means that NOW there's a do-nothing high paid manager for every 2 or 3 Professors.
they need to clean their own shite pile before they bitch about ppl that enjoy football with their own damn money.

If there is one person on earth I’d LOVE to cross paths with at Sonic, it’s that intellectually dishonest, morally reprehensible, disgusting eunuch.

I legitimately don’t understand all the negativity and hate this football ops/new locker room has caused. I mean god even professors at the university are now calling it out? shite is pissing me off. Also confirmed Joe Burrow = GOAT
People today seem to find anything to complain about. LSU football revenue has helped various sections of the University for years. Also if they look at other programs that are successful, it pays to invest in your football or basketball program. If they win on the field / court the University wins as well.

That's a spurious correlation. The undergraduate population has grown because they targeted out of state students with partial scholarships. Certainly, the campus environment and the football atmosphere make Bama an easier sell to kids and parents in California and New Jersey. But Alabama has invested in both the school and the football program, which is why both are doing well. The football program alone isn't bringing those students to campus.
What I'm trying to say is that the underlying cause of both things is investment.
LSU is not investing in its student body. Unless you count the goddamned lazy river.

know that. tOSU has a significantly higher rated business school than LSU.
Lol, do you really believe academic pedigree trumps national name recognition assuming the same MBA completion?
Or the rating of the school outweighs the potential to showcase ability resulting in even 3 years in the NFL prior to sliding into a business career?

I want to say that I had him for media law. He wrote the textbook for the class and I remember him telling us that he donated the proceeds since he required us to purchase his book but it was the best one in circulation.

That’s BS
I was part of one of the biggest freshmen classes ever st LSU
Guess what the football team did the year before?

What is your point? Mine is that LSU is not investing in its student body. I don't see the lazy river as a meaningful investment. Do you disagree with that point? If so, what evidence can you provide to suggest otherwise?
Alabama, in contrast to LSU, is investing in its student body. The results are clear as day. The student population doubled in a decade. Tuscaloosa is booming. Alabama's academic programs are improving, as is its reputation (e.g, it just achieved R1 status). All this because of their investment.
