How many people expected LSU to finish 9-3? Not many. The over/under for wins this season was set at 7.5 so the expectation was that we would would finish 7-5 or 8-4. We finished 9-3. Is it not a good thing to finish better than expected?

Where did we finish in relation to the “compete for championships” expectations that this AD had just two years ago.

He goes 9-3 probably 10-3

Remember a couple of weeks ago when people were saying we had a 10 win season and how he exceeded expectations then? Are we ever going to learn to stop assuming wins before they happen? The same goes for losses. People need to let this stuff play out before making claims.

I half agree. But where is the breaking point? It isn't just about wins and losses when evaluating is the right direction for the program if we want to compete for championships.

I'd say the line between a bowl win and loss is pretty small....at least for me. I still saw nothing this season that says O can compete for a championship. A win buys him one more year to reach for 11 wins. A loss...he still gets next year, but Alleva should already be evaluating options.

If we're at 2-3 losses 3/4 of the way through next season....that's where the line should be drawn, regardless of this bowl game

The point that he's making is not terrible...if it weren't coming from the head of the Athletic Department.

Man, Alleva is terrible at his job.

He could have said, "We're on the path back to where we need to be. These things don't happen overnight. Orgeron and the staff exceeded all realistic expectations this year and i look forward to continuing to move the program forward."

He's a fool.

Does 9-3, 5-3 exceed your expectations for LSU football? does finishing 10th in the SEC in total O exceed your expectations? Does the 6th best total D in the SEC exceed your expectations?

Does 3 yrs after a coaching change having a worse O and D with the same record than before the change exceed your expectations?

3 yrs later I expected more than maybe 10 wins, further behind Bama, and the same struggling O, but maybe next year.

Alleva is an illogical, self-serving, useless mouthpiece who conducted one of the most inept coaching searches in the history of modern CFB.

This is hilarious.

So because our expectations were so low based on hiring a fricking DL coach to be your HC, exceeding that equals success.

Dear fricking lord, end it now.

See, this is the type of opinion that's off base for a few reasons. The expectations were low for tangible reasons not only related to Orgeron. The Offense was experiencing massive turnover. And, the talent level on offense was average at best on that side of the ball. We are truly in the midst of a rebuild on offense.

But, when you make an idiotic statement like Alleva, you've earned this type of criticism. How could you argue against it?

I bet Alleva writes a self-help book one day on 'Leadership & Integrity'.

I cannot think of a man with more wisdom or bigger balls than he.

if Saban, Meyer, Jimbo, Smart, Mullen, Lincoln Riley, Dabo, hell even Les Miles, etc had this roster would the expectations have been as low as they were for O?

I think by saying "experts" he is taking a shot all you 6-6 tards on this forum.

You asshats can pretend you didn't say it, but the board consensus before the season was 6-6. Lsu exceeded your "expert" expectations.

Still far below what the Binders promised. I don't see how he can be happy finishing 6th in the SEC.
