Guy has some talent, he's had good and bad moments. Would be a strong backup.

You obviously saw Nuss play in some games I must have missed. He is the worst looking QB I've ever seen at LSU. He is good on the hoof, although he rarely displayed it. He is horribly inaccurate. And he shows no ability to find the right receivers. He was a freshman, so he could improve, but so far...Nada!

So lemme get this straight, you’re basics writing off a kid who had half a start, against a good defense, while under a lane duck coaching staff…. The kid has barely played ONE GAME. Hardly the worst QB play I’ve ever seen at LSU. Please reevaluate your life sir. This is embarrassing

His stat line is far better than anyone on our roster.

He's horrible. Is he coming for depth?

While you’re not wrong, I think the consensus is that there are better options out there in the portal.

TD: 27
Rank: 15th

INT: 6
Rank: Tied-35th

QBR: 62.7

Because guys transferred and he has played in more games?

I sure hope LSU can do better than him. He is a career 50-55% passer.

Yup. Max Johnson is a better QB than he is and most were disappointed with him.

It just would not make any sense. Not sure how anyone is okay with the idea of Calzada unless he is cool with not starting.

2021 stats
Max 2,815 yards, 27 TDs, 6 INTs, 62.7 QBR
Zac 2,185 yards, 17 TDs, 9 INTs, 57.1 QBR

Yes, there are others in the portal that look better.
But none have committed here yet and he's a better QB today than Nuss, despite the Rant's infatuation with back up QBs.
We need to entertain his interest unless we get AT LEAST one better transfer at the position.

being an effective QB takes FAR, FAR, more than merely having a strong arm.

Could develop with a good quarterback coach

That's not possible, the rant taught me that.

Once the rant deems a qb bad, there's no improvement possible, the rant is the end all be all of qb talent evaluation.

Bet you were an Anthony Jennings and Justin McMillan guy

Kinda unfair to lump McMillan in with Jennings. He did pretty well at Tulane

I guess, but Nuss only played in a handful of games as a true Freshman.

Calzada was a 50% passer as a fresh like Nuss. Calzada is still a 55% passer 3 years into his college career.

It would be incredibly disappointing if Calzada was the guy after running off Max Johnson and Myles Brennan. And I actually am okay with letting both go, but not if it's for Calzada.

I still have hope that LSU can get a better transfer QB or Nuss can progress under a new regime.

I understand rankings don't always pan out, but Nuss is/was a top 100 overall recruit. I am not sure people should just dismiss him so quickly. Nothing wrong with adding depth, but I personally hope it is not Calzada. Of course I can easily be wrong about Calzada. I was much more excited about Burrow transferring in (even without much experience), because the talent was still there. I just don't see it with Calzada.

I want a QB, who tells the fairweather fans, SMD.
You are either on the Cruise Ship or you are on the Pirogue.

Aggie won't care. They let Calzada be the scapegoat for Jimbo's mediocrity.

What makes you think Brian Kelly “ran them off”?

I think he wanted them both.

The Max Johnson thing really came out of left field to me. He was the starter. Anything last year’s staff did to hurt his feelings...they are gone.

I'm assuming we only take one quarterback out of the portal, and we better get a damned good one. There will also be a flurry of portal QBs after Spring Practices.
