Jeff Landry is a Selective outrage idiot. He stepped in a big pile of dung on the anthem

Landry threatens Scholarships over Anthem
He needs to apologize and realize that he could effect everything from LSU's reputation in the national market to recruiting with his HUGE lie and major faux pas. When your Governor calls you out like a knee jerk nut, he needs to get the actual facts and correct his mistake publicly. If LSU officials are not blowing his phone up for a retraction they are going to have to wallow in his misdirected negative publicity for awhile. Isn't he actually a USL (purposeful) fan? Makes sense now.
Hey Gov..call out the LSU football team too while you are sitting on your throne slinging mud.

Crime, infrastructure, economy. That's all he needs to worry about.

If other schools are negative recruiting against us because of our governor then they are wayyyyy behind the 8 ball.
Just let it go. He said how he feels and he knows now that he didn’t have all the facts.

Glad to see he has his priorities straight.

Guys like Landry will never apologize. They just double down on their opinions or just ignore it and never mention it again.

I would rather have him than JBE but this is what happens when your Governor made his past career in focusing entirely on superficial red meat issues. He thinks people actually care enough about this for him to make a dumb statement about it.
LSU football isn’t on the field while the band plays the national anthem and no one cares because that’s how it’s always been.

Landry is the kind of guy who will double down, instead of apologize.
And if any LSU types seek a retraction, they will face retaliation immediately.
Jeff Landry is not smart.
But he is never in doubt.

Hopefully Woodward steps in and lets him know how coaches run their programs.

How did he get elected with such knee jerk reaction?
People are fleeing the state in record numbers because of jobs and poor education system, yet his focus is on national anthem where majority of teams are missing because of pregame.
Not a good look for Louisiana where governor is focused on national anthem and threatening to remove scholarships from students if they are not present, yet Louisiana is ranked last in many categories.

It was a very reactionary statement, its like he doesn’t have the resources to find out what actually happened

This has gotten so absurd. Why would I care if someone is present or not present for the singing of the national anthem? As long as you aren’t disrespecting the anthem to bring the attention upon yourself when it’s being sung, who cares?
Lots of teams are not present for the singing of the national anthem, and Jeff Landry getting involved in this just shows that we apparently go from one knucklehead to another knucklehead in this state without missing a beat. Just stay out of trivial affairs and govern this state for once. Louisiana deserves it, but rarely if ever gets it. The condition this state remains stuck is evidence of that.

Uhhhh kind of a big deal for the governor, especially to attack a huge state entity? You don’t “just let it go”. Again, he’s not your crazy friend he’s the freaking governor.

He's a moron who got where he is by spouting the knee jerk right wing outrage of the day.
Maybe we can pull his monthly salary every time he does or says something dumb.

Louisiana is the only southern state contracting. Every other state in the south is growing. Yes, even Mississippi.

Well maybe he would not have said anything if the snowflake arse LSU athletic department acted like they care about the country instead of burying their little stupid liberal heads in the locker room….how about that

I am incredibly disappointed in him.
He absolutely should correct his statement or else I think he will lose some support. His comment was far too extreme. Especially not fully understanding the situation.
He could have said his feelings on the anthem without being ridiculous. And yes, he should have had all the facts before making such a statement.
I mean he really said they should be at risk of losing their scholarships. Yikes.

Agreed. It was a clown move on Landry’s part. If it upset him so much, he could’ve picked up the phone and called Woodward to discuss the matter like a proper leader would. He chose to run to twitter with that ridiculous statement instead. Very disappointed in the governor.
