JD has accounted for 22% more yardage than Penix has (2,809 vs 2,305) and 30% more TDs (26 vs 20) all while having the highest passer efficiency rating in the country.

Penix is really number 1 because they had him in the top 2 candidates pre-season and people don’t like to be wrong.

JD has played in 7 games vs only 6 for Penix.

Penix deserves to be in the #1 spot… for now

Heisman will be won with their performances in November. Washington schedule gets much harder

Jayden had #2 odds behind Caleb Williams in the preseason. You might be biased but idk.

True. And you can add that the TV media is shilling for the future exPAC12. I assume they want them to be in good shape when they go to their future tv homes. I thought it weird that the SECN is similarly shilling for UTx and UO while they are still in the Big12…

Hopefully Daniels puts up outrageous numbers against Army before the bye week so as the game counts even up the totals are similar.

They are also undefeated and Top 5. If LSU were undefeated and Top 5, with the same stats, Daniels would be No. 1.

Daniels had the 2nd best Heisman odds behind Caleb Williams when the season started

When nobody sets themselves apart , it goes to the best player on the best team. JD will have his chances to shine. At this point in the 2019 season, Joey B wasnt the favorite yet either, i think it was all pre-injury Tua, Jalen hurts, and Trevor Lawrence if i remember correctly. Burrow and the 2019 offense kept getting better and better and beat Bama and blew out 3-4 teams at the end of the season, scoring 50+ every week to run away with the heisman.

His name is one letter away from Penis and that will never not be kinda funny to me. Downvote away.

Penix has played against 1 Top25 ranked team so far this season.

JD5 has played against 3.

Penix may or may not have been able to put up those numbers if he had played the same teams as JD5.

Penix is talented, but his numbers could be a direct result of who he has played against. I believe JD5 has been more impressive, as he has played better/ranked defenses.

Or because Washington is undefeated, currently leading the Pac-12, and is on pace to reach the CFP. Also, your numbers aren't a good comparison because Washington has played one less game than LSU to date.

Daniels is having a great season. His production (to date) is worthy of Heisman trophy consideration...but so is Penix and it is dumb to say the only reason he is currently considered to be the favorite is because "people don't like to be wrong".

At some point down the road, the talking heads that get a vote will also look at who was most important to the success of their team.

Given the demise of LSU's defense this season, I have to believe that LSU's success rides fully on the back of Daniels this year.

His pocket presence, running ability, passing accuracy, excellent decision-making and calm demeanor are what makes that offense run.

Yes, he has an abundance of riches around him - fantastic Oline, two (maybe three?) NFL-caliber receivers, and a bell-cow running back. But it's Daniels that turns all those quality ingredients into the world-class offense we've seen this year. And that success has carried this team past the deficiencies on the defensive side of the ball.

Regardless of stats, I can't think of another QB on the current Heisman list that has been more essential to his team's success than Daniels. And at some point, that's going to mean a lot to the folks with votes.

Just my two pennies worth, y'all.

LSU would be undefeated but for bad coaching.

Theyre also undefeated, heisman usually goes to a guy in contention for the natty. NOt saying our two losses will keep jayden from winning it, but makes it hard to put him over a guy leading an undefeated contender right now

Not only is Washington undefeated. Penix has 1 “signature win” already beating Oregon. Jayden will have his chance. But if Washington wins out and penix keeps his pace up, it’s gonna be tough for anyone to edge him.

Yeah! Bo Nix numbers exploded when he began playing vs Pac 10 defenses.
