Can we please have check downs to a speedy running back for the second time in this program’s history? If we have that qb doesn’t have to break 30 yard runs on the reg and who plays qb doesn’t matter.

It’s a lost cause to try and explain this here. They will never get it.

Daniels is undoubtedly a serious talent and had an edge in Brennan with mobility but so does just about everyone.

Daniels question marks-
Need to see deep ball.
in game adjustments at the line
Leadership

That said, I think we’ll see both guys on the field this year.

Well that didn’t take long. The starter from day 1. Hmmm, give it a few. The “thing” about QBs is the ability to find your Jersey colors and the other teams. THAT will be the determination.

It’s day one of practice but simply watching the natural skills of Daniels (quickness, footwork, release, and MOST importantly throws the most catchable ball) makes me believe he will take it. Pay attention to where his passes hit the target compared to the other 3 guys and how smooth he seems to be able to do the footwork in the drills.

Do you not realize that the quarterback position requires more than just physical skills? Lot's of quarterback's look great when they are not having to face a defense. I will give it more time before I even begin to think about who will start. And believe me when I tell you I am not qualified to make that decision.
And just as a reminder, Urban Meyer was watching Joe Burrow every practice for 3 years and still did not see him as a starting quarterback.

IMO, if Brennan is not very, very confident after spring practice he will be the starter in the fall he will transfer shortly after spring practice ends. If his goal is to be a starting QB he simply doesn't have enough time to wait until the fall to know if that is going to happen or not. He would want to get to his new school ASAP to give him self a shot to be ready for the 2022 season.

Of course, the caveat is does he value being at LSU more than being a starting QB? If so, he may be content to take the competition all the way through the fall even though it may ultimately result in him being a backup once more.

We really needed a athlete that could play QB back there the last few years with how bad the Oline has been.

We need a QB that can recognize defenses and and get the ball out on time to the open receiver.
I remember last season, Johnson was the Board's choice because he could run faster than Brennan.

he looks pretty thin for a SEC QB.

Bryce Young says hello…

I just looked up Bryce Youngs rushing stats from last season, he rushed 81 times in 15 games for 0 yards, so not really a good comparison here.
Also everyone that compares Jayden to Desmond Ritter because that's the kind of QB Denbrock likes, Ritter is taller and about 30-40 pounds heavier.

He didn't see him as Ohio State's starting QB. And based upon the data known AT THE TIME it is hard to say he made the wrong decision. OSU was 12-1 in 2015. In 2016 they were 11-1 before losing in the CFP. In 2017 Haskins came off the bench and beat their biggest rival. Meyer then went with Haskins as his starter in 2018. Frankly, it is pretty hard to argue that was the "wrong" decision considering OSU went 13-1 led by Haskins who threw for 50 TDs and nearly 5,000 yards in season in which he was a Heisman Trophy finalist. It's not as if Burrow was overlooked in favor of guys who weren't producing. Haskins had a great year in 2018.

This fan base’s obsession with running QBs is ridiculous. Championship QB play is played from the pocket, not many running QBs win titles especially in the modern game.

2021- Bennett
2020- Jones
2019- Burrow
2018- Lawrence
2017- Tua
2015- Coker
2014- Jones
2013- Winston
2011-12- McCarron

So 9 of the last 10 winners were pocket passers, that’s what wins championships in football.

Brian Kelly will start the QB that gives him the best chance to win… Why would we want anything else?

frick all that seniority BS or who got here first

open competition and best man plays and anyone who gets butt hurt can transfer if they dont like it. the kids running the program are gone and its time for the grownups to run things they way they need to be run

So the guy that only 10 TDs and 10 INTs all last season vs the PAC 12 will be our starter? We're fricked next year if so.

I don’t know about his leadership skills but his natural talents and fundamentals easily look to be the best at this point.

I am not necessarily tagged to any of the QBs on the team but I am just skeptical that a 185 lb stick is going to come in and dominate the SEC... I am open to the possibility that I am wrong.

Myles will be Tulane's starting QB in '22. It's already been worked out and he'll transfer following spring ball when Daniels is named starter. Will be a 3k yard passer in Fritz's offense, and likely a 3rd round pick in the draft.

Genuinely curious who you consider to not be a “pocket passer” of this group
