Not because Anderson was out of gas.
Not because he was worried about a top-8 seed
Not because he is switching his rotation next week

I would think that's exactly why he used him was to make sure he didn't go 2 weeks without pitching.
But it also just so happened to give LSU the best chance to win 1 game which if there was any doubt about getting a top 8 seed winning this game removed it.

If it was because the top 8 seed was on the line he would have gone to someone else out of the pen who has pitched in, and performed, in the role. Not a complete unknown.
It was to make sure he got an appearance this week. It’s extremely simple and I’m not even a “OMG Jay is a baseball God!” guy like most of the posters here.

This may be correct.
If a game tomorrow was somewhat guaranteed he might have saved AE.
But with only a 1-run lead, the decision was easy.
