Would love to see a Schmidt start.

I wouldn't this weekend, but let us take care of business, win 2/3 and then I'd like to start Schmidt to kick off the SEC tournament

Friday to Friday is short rest? Or what am I missing?

I didn't realize they split them into Thur (1 & 4) and Fri (2 & 3). I thought all 4 played on Thur. However, it is possible (albeit not likely) that we end up as a 4 seed and play on Thur.

I didn't realize this either.

And it makes me like the tournament format even less, which I wasn't sure was possible.

So the question becomes does he do the same next week in Hoover? We will play on Thursday, and if he holds Anderson and Eyanson to Fri-Sat again, a loss on Thur ends our SECT. Not that we would necessarily NEED a win in Hoover.

If we 2 or 3 we play Friday

If we 4 we play Thursday

Ah I see. Even then if we take care of business this weekend we could still pitch whoever on Thursday anyway of the SEC Tournament. Doesn’t have to be Anderson

Thats a fine spot to throw schmidt in the fire if we win 2 of 3 here. I just dont trust him yet, he needs to still mature a bit mentally IMO

I actually don't mind the format, except for splitting the Thur and Fri between 1 & 4 and 2 & 3. And I think they should start the tourney on Wed and just have seeds 1, 2, 3, & 4 all play on Fri.

Also, if it is a fact, they will both be on short rest next week because of this.
My opinion would be to pitch them on Thur and Fri, respectively, and have them on a max pitch count

So you would rather pitch them on short rest THIS week in a much more meaningful series? Smart. Good call coach.

I thought we were automatically playing on Thur next week. I didn't realize they split 1 & 4 and 2 & 3. So part of my point was what's the difference of short rest this week or short rest next week? Anderson has pitched on short rest 3 times this year already. But yeah, I'm no coach and my opinion doesn't mean anything. I trust JJ.

If they did that they would really box themselves in if there are weather issues.

Friday is probably Johnny Wholestaff. I’d start Schmidt or Ware and see what they can do. Only way I go to Cowan or Evans is if it’s a close game in the 8th and you want to lock up a win.

If jay is punting on thurs he would be wise not to use Cowan or evans so he has them ready to close the fri/sat games. I don't trust the bats to have an 8 run lead in the 7th which is what would be needed.

The SEC Tournament will just be a chance for other pitchers to step up…for game 1 we would have plenty of pitchers available. Cowan and Evans could be saved from this weekend too

Anderson and Eyanson would be on short pitch counts for SECT anyway

I trust Fontenot more than Schmidt at this point.
