I’m going to give Jay credit for putting together a great baseball team. Unfortunately he has lost talent that might otherwise have us playing for the national championship. He said this weekend was a business trip to Georgia. I know he want to win all three games, but maybe just as important was determining who he can trust playing in post season play.

I have come to realize why Little left Vandy.

Knew it was too good to be true.

Really? Crazy seeing Jay commit all those errors in the field costing us the game, we should bench him already.

It’s on him because he assembles the roster. When your lineup consists of about 75% designated hitters, your team is not going to be very good defensively or at running the bases.

How many games has Little now lost for us, can’t believe JJ just won’t give it up

How many innings has he pitched since he lost his starting job? 1 or 2? I think jay knows he can’t be trusted but the kids got some stuff that you would be hard pressed to give up on and he was good at the beginning of the year. I can’t blame him for trying to see if he could find it again. Especially when everyone else left was struggling.

I’m pretty sure he’s done for the year though now

If Jay Johnson would just browse this board daily, and take the advice offered by the experts here the turnaround in performance would occur within days.

Lol. Always the contrarian. You are wrong, though. Tell us how you defend bringing Little in at that point of the game.

I agree with both of the other 2 points by the OP, but can see both sides on each. Little, though. Head scratcher. Jay blew that.

I do think that not playing Morgan at 1st base may come back to haunt LSU in a Super or in Omaha. White and Thompson have to make better throws but your 1B has to be able to dig those balls. Jones and Beloso have had their issues doing just that.

In a generic situation, the putouts made at 1B are plays almost any ball player is capable of making. It’s why so many major league 1B have been immobile hulking power hitters. Very few players are placed at the position for their defensive capabilities

The problem here is that LSU doesn’t have a major league infield. Dugas has limited range at 2B. White and Thompson are prone to throwing errors. Playing Morgan at 1st base isn’t just an upgrade at that position. It gives LSU more range on the right side and also eliminates throwing some errors on the left side.

Little should’ve never been brought in that was the worst decision of the game from JJ.

Little was terrible. That is a fact, but the score was 6-4when he went in. When he left it was 7-4

Little gave up one run. He’s everyone’s whipping boy now but he didn’t lose the game.

Literally any other arm on staff. Somebody said Ethan Frey pitched a little in HS. Frey before Little in that spot yesterday!

Herring, Money, Ackenhausen were there. mf'er.

Money was put in after and did just as bad. He gave up two runs. Herring couldn’t strand his runner, either. And gave up two doubles

LSU left 7 runners on the last 3 innings. Johnson thought they’d score more runs in the bandbox and just needed to steal a few outs. In the end it did not even matter, but the strategy was nothing out of the ordinary

We only scored five runs!!! Georgia had six already. No matter who pitched we were destined to lose. Understand????

Jay's philosophy is to win by outhitting the opponent! That's his mo... pitching and defense are secondary to winning games.

And that's why we'll have a hard time winning a NC with him as HC. Not impossible just harder without great defense and a good BP.

These threads are tiresome. Baseball coaches don’t have nearly as much control over the outcome of a game as football coaches, and maybe even hoops. This team is very talented, and clearly one of the best in the country. This time of year, it comes down to getting hot. Players go through ups and downs, and a lot of it isn’t dependent on a coach. The greatest coaches and managers usually get canned at some point, and it’s not really because of how they set lineups and the like.
Man, don’t be up in here making sense. These “experts”, who can’t even spell baseball, know more than CJJ. I don’t know why they’re not coaching college baseball somewhere. The adjustments and changes that they would make, after the game has been played mind you, is pure genius. It’s easy to question the coaches decisions after a game.
