Would Jay be on the hot seat if the 2027 season ends up the same as this year's season will end up as? Asking for a friend

Probably not, nor should he.
But if that happens and he had lost in game 7 to Little Rock last year, then yes.

Hell no. He’s got 2 more years at least of this exact same record and then it would be hot.

The same season as this year... yea his seat gets hot you cant miss 2 post seasons in a row with the resources LSU puts into baseball. I am not even saying i think it should be i just believe it would be.

So 1 game puts him on the hot seat but not the totality of 2 miserable season?
Yes, if JJ goes 9-21 in SEC next year and fails to make a regional changes are coming and pumpers of today will be leading the charge.

In my opinion, the only way his seat gets remotely warm next year is if we don't show any improvement in the biggest areas of concern from this season.
- If he whiffs on every portal addition.
- If our team defense remains little league caliber.
- If our bullpen is incapable of throwing strikes.
To me, it's not the losses but more how we are losing. The SEC is absolutely brutal, so losing games is inevitable. The way we are losing this year is concerning.

Things will get really uncomfortable that’s for sure, and I don’t care what anyone here on this board says regardless of his Championships.
Especially if we end up bottom of the pack again.
He wouldn’t get fired but it won’t be a comfy situation anymore.
What happened this year needs to be an anomaly.

This season is the equivalent of going 4-8 in football

Yes. I like Jay a lot but If we miss the tournament two years in a row he’s on the way out
I think we have a big bounce back year though

Stop equating baseball to football. It’s not the same.
Regardless he’s won 2 of the last 4. The vast majority of the fanbase likes and respects him. 3 bad years in a row and patience will be removed. Not until then.

Please adjust your thread title to provide more information so that posters do not have to click into the thread to find out how stupid you are.

Sadly, I think we've gotten all we can get out of Jay.
He came in as an unknown quantity and the conference struggled to handle him.
I think it's obvious now they have his number.

Is the key for the rest of the conference to let Jay win a title so he can't attack the portal and then injure his best players? Seems like a great strategy for the rest of the conference.

Not with how hard he works. He's an absolute grinder. It just didn't work out this year.

"Hot Seat" is an ignorant term.
