re: Jay Johnson is not the best coach in College Baseball

I somewhat agree. You have to find different ways to win if the traditional ways aren’t working. For instance, I never see Jay play catch up ball. This means taking until you get a strike late in the game when you’re down. I also don’t see him playing small ball. Try stealing more or bunting for hits. Pulling the infield in early in games when it feels like the game is getting away from you and the other team has runners in scoring position. If you have pitchers that can’t throw strikes, don’t keep running them out there. I know Jay didn’t just stop knowing how to coach but his inability to adjust his game day coaching style has been alarming.
Even in his championship seasons, I felt like he left a lot on the table regarding the teams capabilities and the ability to score more runs. He just had overwhelming pitching talent that surpassed any offensive deficiencies.

Your youth baseball teams are probably coached very well. I’ll give you that.

It’s interesting to think about what his perception would be here if it weren’t for the last four endings of the 2025 regional elimination game.

“Small ball” does not lead to scoring more runs. It’s 2026, there is enough data to prove this.
And working counts is something good players do. Causal fans love to paint this as a strategic measure. This is player-dependent, and just so happens to look like a common trait for good teams. Well yea, it’s because the players are good.
At the end of the day the players just weren’t good enough. That can and will fall on the coach(s). Jay Johnson is not the only coach still learning about roster-building in the transfer portal era. It’s why, when asked, who are the better coaches, no one can legitimately rattle off better coaches. Because they’ve all taken lumps trying to put together consistently winners.

The fans that want to part ways with Johnson are probably the same fans that didn’t want McMahon fired

That's a good point.
You know I sometimes call the team and coaches out, but to see people question Johnson's greatness because of this season is bizarre to me. The guy is a great coach and it's not debatable when you look at the stats and facts and take BS emotion out of it, which many people like OP aren't willing to do.

What if we take away 1 inning from the 2024 regional final, or the 2022 regional final? Thats a fun game

This is where I land. JJ used his mulligan in spectacular fashion.
The 2 natty narrative rings hollow if next season becomes a repeat of 2026, where the narrative only gets louder JJ can only win with top 5 draft pitchers.
It’s regional or out for him next year at a place like LSU. Patience is already wearing thin based on people in the stands this season. Concession revenues are getting destroyed.

It's impressive just how fricking stupid you are. You should be embarrassed. It's unfortunate you weren't aborted.

Three pages in and the OP has been called out several times to post his "best" but has yet to do it because he can't. He just hopped on here and posted shite to stir up shite.

quote:They kept pretty much their entire team. That was the entire point of hiring Early. They were preseason #1 and didn't make the tournament.
At least A&M had an excuse for the bad season with Schloss abandoning them right after the CWS and leaving the program scrambling to find replacement and maintain roster.
UVA was preseason #2 and didn't make the tournament.

A&M was also competitive in most games they played and not getting run ruled all the time or getting swept every weekend. They even won a series vs #2 LSU, where as we have been bad against all of the upper echelon SEC teams, this season.
quote:Up until the UGA series where we flipped half the roster due to injuries, 10 of our 15 losses were by 3 runs or less. We had been run ruled one single time. If you say that we were getting blown out every game of every weekend, you're just seeing what you want to see. That does not reflect the reality of the outcome of the games.

This isn’t a program ending season by any means

That was in response to other poster’s comment about this season being a program ending type of season.
It isn’t

OP, let us know who is then.

Yeah but we have the most loyal and dedicated fans.
If you doubt me, check the board a couple months ago.
Orgeron, Wade... Heck fans were bitching about Saban after we lost to Iowa.

How many shifts have we done and they hit routine ground ball to short and we have no one there
Also pitching has been flip of coin on throwing strikes. He will get one those strikes gets 2 ground balls the switch pitchers because a left handed coming to bat. Then we just so happen to walk

Are there really fans that want to fire Jay Johnson right now besides maybe a troll or two? Who are these people? Let's name names.
