You absolutely can argue that he should have left Ack in the game in a familiar role rather than bringing in Jump on short rest in an unfamiliar role, but the problem definitely was not pulling Hellmers. Hindsight is 20/20 on the Ack-Jump call. He would have been praised had it worked out. You probably would have blamed him for the loss for NOT bringing in his best pitcher if he had left in Ack and lost.
