He’s probably just fishing for a settlement. He’ll probably get one to go away quietly.

True hundreds of coaches are fired every year.

But the employers honor the contract almost all of the time.

That’s the rub here. He wants to get paid on his contract.

Well you should be able to use the same internet to prove him wrong then, right??

Just because you are lazy and don’t want to look it up doesn’t mean it isn’t true

Eh, the guy is being a douche canoe, but I'm generally not going to side with the "do you're own research" side. If you want to make a claim of something, you should easily be able to back it up.

Also, you can't prove that something doesn't exist.

Furthermore, in the ASU instance specifically, the only thing I could find on it was Keyshawn Johnson alleging that Kevin Mawae was the whistleblower. A claim he's since retracted. So there certainly isn't a preponderance of evidence showing that a disgruntled former coach retaliated against them.

I think he knows enough to make a lot of people nervous.

If he really do know anything they wouldn’t have fired him for cause or they would have paid a partial buyout. Considering how bad he was at recruiting I doubt he has any first hand information.

The timing of the announcement is unfortunate and deliberate. About two weeks away from kick-off and it has to be a distraction.

I don't follow turnover at other programs, but LSU does seem to have more than its fair share of former coaches still getting paid. At some point, the supporters that make those buyouts possible will lose their patience and if I was Coach O, that would bother me more than Cregg's lawsuit.

They should quietly come to a compromise settlement and move on. The real reason he was not retained is because we needed an upgrade at that position.

Cregg was fired because his inability to recruit and develop offensive linemen. The recruiting violation involving Tristan Leigh gave LSU the with cause to get out of his buyout.

You are right that hundreds of coaches are fired each year, but don't sue and don't rat our their former employers. However, your suggestion that they don't know the "launch codes" is quite often not true. The examples you use, like Damyune Craig and Dale Peveto are surely people who know where the bodies are buried. The problem with many assistant coaches getting into a pissing match is that they, too, are dirty.
James Cregg may be an exception who did so little actual recruiting that he is relatively clean, outside of Tristen Leigh.

I have learned in life never to burn a bridge you have just crossed, because life many times requires you to cross the river on things like tightropes or wade through rocky bottoms. Also--at times we want to burn bridges we think we have crossed but are standing in the middle of them, and we get burned in the fire. At other times, the baggage we carry over the bridge grows and is impossible to get across the river. It is better to have grace and move on to what is before us than to harbor bitterness and defile many.

Keyshawn apologized for specifically saying it was Mawae. It is extremely obvious it came from somebody employed inside the football program. Whether it was from Mawae or not it contradicts his claim that someone lower on the totem pole won't get enough dirt to take a program down.

From @JoeGyanJr: Former LSU offensive line coach James Cregg has sued the school for breach of contract. LSU said Cregg admitted to a recruiting violation and fired him for cause, according to the filing.

Oh, he’s 100% wrong on that account. If anything, the lower tier coaches are there to provide insulation for the head coach in that regard.

LSU oughta sue him for stealing from them for years. Taking money without anything in return is either welfare or theft, and I ain’t seen him on no Rascal lately.
