I can't believe you got 14 likes so far for being wrong when trying to correct the OP. I guess most of these fools get their education on TD. What a bunch of racist assholes!

This is the second interview I've seen where a reporter asks about playing LSU and his comments are along the lines of "it's a big game for them, but not for us". Basically insinuating that LSU gets hyped for this game but they really don't care

No. It's indicative of the mindset that's drilled into them everyday. It's a big reason why Alabama has been so consistently dominant. There are no "big games". The next game is always the most important game. None are bigger than the others. Next week's game vs. Miss. St. will be just as big as the LSU game. That's why they consistently drill opponents while other teams have inconsistent ups and downs.

LSU is not alone in this respect, but that's how you get crushed by MSU then come back later and beat a good Auburn team. It's why Les's teams would play nail-biters vs. weak opponents they should have blown out, but come back a week or two later and look like world-beaters vs. great opponents. If certain games are "big games" then conversely other games aren't big games or at least "less important." If a coach allows his program to have that mindset then he is essentially implying that you have to "get up" for the big games, but not so much for the less important games. It's a recipe for inconsistency.

Saban had that mindset here at LSU. For him, there are no highs and lows. He holds his team to same standard of excellence every game, regardless of the opponent. Say it either way you want: every game is a big game or NO games are big games. It's boring. It doesn't make for great soundbites/press conferences. But it clearly works.

Look, make no mistake. The Alabama players know this is a tougher opponent than many of the others they play throughout the season. They know that LSU has players who can match them athletically. It's intrinsic. But Saban doesn't allow them to think of LSU as a "big game". Because if LSU is a big game, then Miss. St, or Tennessee, or Arkansas, isn't. And that's how you get upset

If we want respect, we have to be able to beat them. Alabama is not going to have a lot of respect for any team that is a three touchdown underdog to them. Add in the fact that we haven’t beaten them in five years, and we get what we get.

It doesn’t help that we got hammered by 30 points to state and loss to a SBC team.

No bully, and believe me, Bama is a college football bully is going to respect you until you jump up and slap them in the face.

I'd argue that the name Hurts doesn't require the extra 's' when you say it out loud, and that's why the s' works.

Same thing for names like Jesus and Moses. That's how I was taught many moons ago. But a name like Chris would have the extra 's' because you do pronounce it with the extra 's'.

When you beat a team 6 times in a row and your school raids their state in recruiting they won't take lsu serious. Sorry folks but it's true.

Sorry, but I can’t buy into LSU just being another game for them when they schedule their bye week almost every year when they’re fixing to play us. I believe that Saban sees this as a big game whether or not he expresses that same feeling to his players.

No, Hurts would require the extra "s". Names like Jesus and Moses are express exceptions to the "rule".

They better respect LSU. Orgeron had us in last years game 0-0 4th qtr. Could have went either way if not for some critical no calls late.

We had an impotent offense the entire game, and Bama went into its traditional eat the clock/run over the defense late in the third quarter.

Sometime in the third quarter I got the feeling that LSU had no chance to score. You could've given us 20 more quarters and I don't see what would've changed.

This is utter bullshite. This was one of the most epic defensive games ever played, and you Les Miles apologist can't give Orgeron credit to save your bigoted asses. Satan never solved LSU's defense either.

Yeah I know, we lost to Troy and we haven't beat them in 6 years but every other player shows LSU respect and mentions how this game is physical and that it's a big game. He's the only one with that arrogant tone of "LSU is to far beneath us to worry about."

Start beating Bama again and this goes away.

Frankly, think about any team LSU plays that it has a long win streak over and relate that to how Bama probably feels about LSU. How LSU feels about A&M, for example.
