Jalen Cook is currently suspended from the LSU program for “failing to meet the standards of the program,” according to Matt McMahon.
Cook did not travel to Vandy with the team on Saturday.

Sometimes is best for kids to get out of town and away from bad actors in their life.

Damn. He was on the bench for the Georgia game dressed to play. At one point McMahon knelt in front of him in the first half. I thought he might be telling him that he will get in in the 2nd half since the team was rolling at that point.

We seem to be doing quite well without him recently

Yeah I wasn't buying all this "healthy scratch" talk. This guy has seemed p.o.'ed at the world all season. Why not just stay at Tulane>!?

at tulane he had the green light to do whatever he wanted
it's probably where he should have stayed but I'm sure someone in his ear said he needed better competition for his future stock and chances to get drafted
it was obvious his recent lack of playing time was due to injury
best of luck as he moves on to some sort of pro ball or hits portal again, Bruce Pearl would take him

I heard he transferred back to LSU because of difficulty with grades at Tulane.

Good for Coach holding him accountable. Coach MM spoke to our company last year and shared his approach.
I really enjoyed it and it made me a Coach MM fan. Hopefully he keeps trending this program in the right direction.
Talk notes:
Coach was very appreciative to be able to speak with us. Appreciation – change your mindset – I GET to vs. I HAVE to
Entitled to nothing, grateful for everything
Champions behave like champions before they are champions
He always reinforces 1) Simple 2) Why 3) Intentionality in all that he does
Recruitment – the person you lose to your competitor may beat you one day/game a year, but the wrong person on your team will beat you every day. Recruitment is critical. Find the talent but also find the right mindset.
LSU Basketball Core Values
Hard Work –
Elite performance requires Elite preparation.
Don’t be disappointed by the results you didn’t get because of the work you didn’t do.
Unselfishness –
Don’t seek honor, honor will seek you.
Toughness –
Ability to move on and work on the next most important thing (In the moment)
Ability to consistently perform at your best regardless of the competitive circumstances
Accountability –
Actions & words have to match
Decisions & actions better match it
People do not decide their future, people decide their habits that do that.
Joy –
Once in a lifetime opportunity at LSU, take advantage of every single day
Love the process, you’ll love what it produces
Real reward in the journey

Bring the Juice (Energy)
Always put the TEAM first

To be a stater on a SEC team and the coach dismissed you Damn he must have been hard to deal with

Props to McMahon for keeping his players in check, regardless of how important they are, and laying down the law. No player is above the team.

I feel like this wasn't initially true but started when his play dropped off, not sure which was the catalyst, attitude caused the bad play or bad play caused the attitude.

Makes me wonder if there was some behind-the-scenes at Tulane of telling him it would be in his best interest to hit the portal.

Bummer, however, the team has won 4 out of 5 without him.
On a side note, LSU jumped in NET from 92 to...
88 NET during that stretch.

He should’ve went to Tech and played with Kenny Lofton. That would’ve been a fun team.

Further proof that not only do we not need him, but that McMahon is actually a good coach. I certainly didn't see us being close to a .500 SEC record team

Damn Batman, those are some great notes. I guess Cooke could come back next year refocused, but it looks like a longshot now.
Fortunately there are usually some talented point guards in the portal, and we will be in a better position to recruit them.

SEC defensive talent > AAC talent
He seemed to be more about his himself and his own offensive statistics when he was playing earlier in the year, and didn't seem to play the best defense. I like this move by CMM. Pull in the same direction as the team, or you're out. Sends a pretty clear message. Defense is a priority.
