and how OU has the advantage vs us when it comes to D

I just listened to Andy Staples and Bruce Feldmans podcast and both said how impressed OU's defense has looked and LSU has had the benefit of playing Arkansas, A&M, and UGA which all have bad offenses.

So OUs defense is better, yet in the past 5 games they've given up

48 to K State
41 to Iowa St(should have lost)
24 to a BAD TCU team
16 to Okie St with QB and WR out
23 in OT to Baylor with a 3rd string QB that was playing safety the week prior

Thats an elite defense, huh? Those are some monster offenses i see

Who cares? We will easily score at will on them.

They have to hype the game up. It's their job.

LSU by at least 20.

I have the advantage to most of the posters on here when it comes to the D....but that is besides the point.

I think the point people are making is that Oklahoma's defense isn't historically God-awful and they have risen to the level of being just mediocre, which is a huge improvement for them, but Burrow will give exactly zero fricks.

The third string QB was throwing slants and seams to no name receivers for 40 YAC all second half.

Can you imagine what burrow and chase/Jefferson will do with that?

Yeah but doesnt matter now. Cant take them lightly. I want to see LSU give Sooners a beat down they will never forget. And like to see LSU focus more on defense and limiting those penalties and the offense to catch more balls. Did you see how many balls the wide receiver a missed had like 10 incompletions I think but 5 or 6 were easy drops. At least 3 of those would have been gone for TD. Terrace Marshall should have had 4 td vs Georgia. Georgia looked lost out there

I think Burrow’s average yard per completion will be close to 25 yards.

I’m up with that ... Looking at the Biloxi Casinos now (driving) ...

Line opened -11 ... Up to -13 so quick I know it’s going to -16 or 17

LSU by 25+ in this game ...

And we know that’s gonna HURTS

We are 27th in PPG allowed and OU is 49th

People make their opinions mid season and then ignore the stats as the change.

People act like we’re stil a 50th ranked defense and we’re a top 30 playing like a top 10

Yawn. Another week another team with the best defense we'll face this year.

Compared to their abortion of a defense they had last year? Maybe

We're going to hang at least 45 on them.

Good!
Hopefully OU pins that on their locker room bulletin boards.

I haven't heard anyone say they are elite on defense. A lot of people are saying they are much improved from last year, under their new D coordinator, when they were absolutely atrocious.

Their pass defense is roughly the same as UGA's stat wise

Their run defense isn't nearly as good as UGA's stat wise

UGA did a pretty good job of containing our run game for most of the game other than the Burrow scrambles. I don't think OU will have the same success. It will allow us to have a more balanced approach and it could get ugly. I don't see us scoring less than 40. If we hold them to 30 then the 12 point spread or whatever it is sounds about right.

Oklahoma’s defense is 50th in scoring defense. LSU is 27th

Here are teams that LSU has played with a better scoring defense than Oklahoma’s, (who gives up 24.5 pts a game)

12.5 - Georgia
14.4 - Florida
18.6 - Auburn
18.8 - Alabama
22.7 - Texas A&M

In those 5 games against those defenses, LSU averaged 39.6 points a game.

This is what they scored against those teams in relation to their average:

Georgia - 24.5 more points
Florida - 27.6 more points
Auburn - 4.4 more points
Alabama - 27.2 more points
Texas A&M - 27.3 more points

So that is an average of 22.2 more points.

So with that in mind, LSU should score 47-48 points against their great defense

Switzer used to say “half a hundred” when referring to the score. I think he is about to see it again!

It’s not like the bad OU defenses of the past that’s for sure. They got some good players especially that LB Kenneth Murray. Dude was dominating Saturday from what I saw.

Just from watching the highlights from the Big XII championship game:

Their D-Line looks very impressive and was able to really be disruptive with both stunts and just straight up beating the Baylor O-linemen.

Their secondary on the other hand looked....not great, to say the least.

Obviously I have not watched Baylor at all this year and have no idea if any of this is due to Baylor being good or trash at any position.

But it looked like to me that if OU can't sack the QB, then somebody will be wide open somewhere, which definitely seems to favor LSU scoring a lot of points.

We are gonna destroy OU. Hurts doesn’t have an OLine at OU like he did at bama. Stingley will blanket Lamb and force him into his lowest receiving yardage of the season.
