I’m not saying Bama does or doesn’t deserve to be in. Personally, I think you should have to win your conference, let alone your division, to be considered for the playoff. At least under the current 4 team format.

Bama making it to the National Title, and winning, against LSU got the ball rolling in the playoff conversation. Now, especially if the manage to win, they’ll be the catalyst that brings about the 8 team format. It’s the only way to truly be fair and truly get the best AND most deserving teams.

Keep at 4. Eliminate the committee and bring back the BCS computer formula.

Why not 6 teams with the first 2 getting a bye? Then you have the power 5 Champs and a wildcard. This also reduces the number of teams having to play an extra game

I agree that if they are going to let in teams in a field of 4 that haven’t even won their division whenever there are 5 power conferences then they need to increase the field to 8. 5 conference champions and 3 at large bids. At this point there is very little incentive to winning your conference let alone division.

Should be 6. The 5-6 should be a play in game.

#1 seed should get bye

I like 11 the best. Five P5 champs and six invitees.

All P5 conference champions get an automatic bid and a first round bye. This would bring back tremendous meaning to conference championships and allow the champions the week off they earned.

The six invitees would be determined by the old BCS formula and play each other in round 1. This would leave eight teams alive for round 2. Round 2 opponents would be determined by seeding.

I like 6 teams, 2 get byes-
5- P5 champions (conf title games de facto play-Ins)
1- wildcard

I love the do or die regular season of college football to want less than more teams. NFL regular season is boring because you can still lose 6-7 and still make playoffs

Eta and use the bcs formula for the wildcard

I like 8. The 5 P5 conference champs, 1 group of 5 team, and 2 at large. Play the first round as home games for 1-4 seeds.

Preferably use the old BCS formula to figure out the at large.

Wouldn't the formula pick the same teams?
Just because you didn't like the picks doesn't make them wrong

6 teams with the first 2 rounds at the higher seeds place would be the GOAT

It’s a TWELVE year contract...this contract will run it’s course before any changes are made. We just had the quarterfinals yesterday....4 teams is puhlenty for the CFP. GREAT....not good regular seasons are are valued. That’s what separates CFB from every other sport....more isn’t always better. JMO

Bama would likely still be in with the old formula.
