I hope so. People argue expanding the playoffs would devalue the regular season. I disagree, it makes it interesting. Ratings would be huge for the Conference championships, because everyone wants to know who will get their shot in the playoffs. That gives teams like TCU or Stanford even more incentive to win ecause they know they still have a shot and are not just playing for a random bowl game.

It's amazing that Bama has fcked up to systems with human bias and influence. First the BCS fiasco which created his new committee designed to reward conference champs. Now this. Ironic that Bama will be at the cause for the beginning and end of the committee.

which is y u need 8 teams. cut the CC games. they have been rendered useless with this shitshow now versus where they were very valuable in BCS system

I’d rather see 6 like the NFL does it, 8 would kill the regular season and you’d have teams like Memphis making valid arguments and getting in. 8 is a little too many.

The reason for going from 2 teams to 4....was to give the #3 team a shot at the title. Now folks are crying about #5 & #6 not getting a fair shot?

I say the conference championship games should be the first round of the playoffs. Thus making winning your conference a must in order to win the National Championship.

Exactly. If it goes to 8 teams, then you'll have people bitching about the 9th and 10th teams having more of a say so than the 7th and 8th. Stop devaluing the best regular season in sports.

Not a bad idea. Or just let #1 vs #8
#2 vs. #7 etc. It will only be one extra week. They could take one week off for finals and start. The Natty doesn't interfere with anything. Classes don't start until mid January anyway. I didn't want bama in but it will be the catalyst for an expanded playoff. The committee is not a bad idea. They are human and they will make mistakes. Expanding the # of teams makes up for the human error component.

And, if there were eight teams in the playoff there would be a helluva lot more controversy figuring out the no. 8 team. Anybody up to no. 12 team can make a case they should be in.
Name me your top eight and 12 teams from this year and tell me the reason the top eight are in instead of 9-12.

I think you should have to win your conference, let alone your division, to be considered for the playoff. At least under the current 4 team format.
8 teams won’t fix it.
