I almost broke my TV in the 2nd half. We hardly ever blitzed but when we did it worked. He was too good to let him have that much time back there. By the 4th quarter i had resigned myself to the fact that he wouldn't change anything and they would score at will on us.

If anyone was pleased by the defense other than rising up at goal line in 1st half then I don’t know what game they were watching.

We played like a Big 12 defense last night otherwise.

Never would have believed Texas woulda been more physical than us and in better shape.

Oh yeah and Stingley....my God. Scary how good he will end up being.

Their energy crashed because of the long drive at the start of 3rd. If LSU could've maintained the drive at start of 3rd, it might blown open the game, but the long drive by UT in 3rd, changed the game and our D.

I do give a little blame to Aranda for play calling in 2nd half. The blitz was effective but was rarely used. I didn't see too many stunts to confuse the UT OL, but that was effective when it was used. I'd like to rewatch though where I can focus on what D is doing.

Probably more like 50%. They didn't start Shelving and Texas rolled when he wasn't in. Then, Shelvin got wore down. I didn't see Apu Ika in the game at all. I'm assuming that boot we saw on his foot earlier in the week really was something bad.

So, they go away from what they've been practicing to run a "slimmer" DLine. When that didn't work, we put back in our jumbo line, which worked. But we never put in our jumbo reserves.

Nah, Aranda has to send more heat at the QB. If you're already getting lit up rushing 3 and 4, you might as well all out blitz and take your chances.

This exactly! Giving him time was killing us, so take a chance and send 5 and trust your back end.

I said same thing after that opening 3 and out.

I’d like to see more aggressiveness on defense to complement the offense.

The 16-18 play drives that ended in scores for UT were worst case scenarios.

I want this offense on the field more than the defense.

As bad as our defense looked, Texas defense looked worse.

They got gashed on their home field

Aranda can’t scheme his way out of a paper bag against top level OC’s.

Really seems to be the case

It’s basically a scheme that if it works ... it works great ... but can be schemed against by a team with decent athletes...

That being said... hell anybody could be the DC with the athletes we got

well 90% of being a good college coach is recruiting. Either way he didnt get it done but i dont think it is a personnel problem. I'm still holding out hope the can turn it around after just being punched in the mouth.

UT doesn't drop several wide open passes,

uh, I count one open drop in the end zone

we had a dropped TD as well people forget, we had to kick a FG

the dropped 3rd and 1 to start the 2nd half was massive failure...

because you could feel we go down and make 27-7

but no, we punt, and they go on a 19 play drive, of which I believe we missed 3 opportunities to stop them on 3rd and long...

that was miserable

because if we stop them like we should, we blow them out

instead, we're gassed and can't stop them...

Their D wasn't the field that long, we keep scoring so fast

Lots of people blaming Aranda for a poor game plan, but our players on defense were flat footed and a step behind the whole second half. You can’t over compensate game plan for players that aren’t wrapping up, not using technique to get by the OLine, etc.

Then that's on the coaches for not properly teaching how to properly wrap up, use proper technique, etc.

There is always an excuse for Aranda. It's year 4. If your players are using improper technique, flat footed, a step behind, then your message isn't getting through. He deserves some blame for a change. His philosophy is soft.

They’ve jumped from saying he’s not good enough to be LSU’s HC to saying it’s his fault that Aranda can’t scheme his way out of a paper bag against top level OC’s.

He did too good of a job fixing the offense

Someone was blaming the uptempo offense last night and that the offense needs to stay on the field more...we hardly ran any uptempo and snapped the ball with less than 10 seconds on play clock all night.

I have to assume that Aranda had a reason for not doing it as he gets paid to do this and I don’t.

It’s easy to say now we should have blitzed more. I believe what held Aranda back from blitzing was his recognition of the QB run threat of their offense posed. They basically did to us what offense is trying to do, high paced, RPO w/ a qb run option mixed in

The problem was the big cushions our DB’s gave their WR’s. Aranda is directly responsible for that but good try

Bad scheme and loafing players. We did no swarming to the ball. Several times we had a UT player break a tackle and get several more yards AND there were lsu players pulling up instead of pursuing to the ball. They were tired, I guess, but dammit. One time in particular Delpit read a swing pass and hit the guy way behind the line of scrimmage, dude breaks tackle and gets about 10 yards after contact. But, at least 2 LSU players quit pursuing b/c they thought Delpit was going to tackle him....

The entire second half looked like third and Chavis.

Burrow saved their arse.
