Lots of people blaming Aranda for a poor game plan, but our players on defense were flat footed and a step behind the whole second half. You can’t over compensate game plan for players that aren’t wrapping up, not using technique to get by the OLine, etc.

Our defense isn’t out of shape. We didn’t prepare them properly with hydration, but I think the biggest issue was we came into the game too hyped up. Our energy was through the roof then crashed during half time.

Coach O has to manage this team’s emotions better.

Bobby Boucher for hydration analyst.

Or Willie Taggart once he’s fired

Tons of missed tackles and a bad scheme.

UT doesn't drop several wide open passes, including a TD, this game goes to OT at 45, and that vaunted LSU D gives up 50+ again.

A little of both. The scheme could have been better but the tackling was sad and that’s on the players.

Missed tackles were huge. Also numerous times UT backs fell forward for 2-3 yds or more after contact.

Nah, Aranda has to send more heat at the QB. If you're already getting lit up rushing 3 and 4, you might as well all out blitz and take your chances.

Rushing 3 on 3rd and long and asking your gassed DBs and LBs to stay with WRs for 5+ seconds is a scheme problem.

Ok

Give the highest paid DC incredible talent and blame the HC for them not stopping Texas in the second half.

Aranda hates blitzing so maybe in the off season we can go hire a young Saban disciple as our pass rushing coordinator.

I think it was the last td for UT, the one down the middle, Vincent didn’t even try to tackle his man.

Go back and watch the replay. Take a look at what happened anytime we rushed 5.

They’ve jumped from saying he’s not good enough to be LSU’s HC to saying it’s his fault that Aranda can’t scheme his way out of a paper bag against top level OC’s.

I am not saying the scheme couldn’t have been better, just that it was more an issue with our players than our defensive game plan.

And my best guess for what happened to our players is that they crashed after being too hyped up. If that isn’t the head coach’s job to manage, whose is it?

I think we should just give Texas and Herman credit. That offensive scheme and philosophy is designed to do exactly what it did - grind you down and check your manhood. They hardly ever get behind the chains. Herman has done a good job instilling physicality as what defines them.

I think the biggest take away is that we got our manhood checked and come away with a good lesson there, you better show up ready to beat the man in front of you. All mindset.

I think we probably could have blitzed more and it worked when we did, but I have to assume that Aranda had a reason for not doing it as he gets paid to do this and I don’t.
