For people saying things like we could win press confrence title, you do realize that speaking ability and motivation is huge on both the recruiting trail and keeping your team ready to play.

That was my point. If he can sell a critical fan that quickly, imagine what he can do in person on the recruiting trail?

Then explain Les Miles. Fans claim hes not any of these things, yet he can recruit. If he wasnt a good motivator he wouldnt average 10 wins a year. I dont think ones public speaking ability has anything to do with results on the field, or court.

Maybe the correct term is personable. Les is a person you feel comfortable with. I think JJones has similar characteristics.

I think Les gets away with his speaking cause he is now known for it, but you can't say that you'd rather play for a guy with no personality and no motivating qualities.

I heard a lot of the types of things Les says recruiting (watch bio of a blue chip on rascos recruitment-Les is on there a lot) in Jones' PC yesterday. He stressed that he wants to be an extension of their home. That his family becomes their family. Sometimes you can tell a guys genuine or a slimeball right off and he sounded genuine. Id much rather my HC sell being a father figure, family, and getting a degree like Jones did than Im going to get you in the pros and make you some money.

No doubt. Look at what being well spoken and articulate has done for Les Miles.

LSU nation. It may take a short time, but all of you, or most, will ultimately come to appreciate JJ. JJ is a winner and will bring back a winning tradition to LSU in the SEC.

At UNT I was always a football first board poster and reader. JJ changed all that with his winning ways. Y'all will be able to be negative if you wish about JJ, but in the long run he'll win you over because he's a winner. LSU has gained a lot of UNT BB fans just because we'll follow him based on what he did for and at UNT. I hate TCU for being so stupid as to hire a lackie coach like TJ!!! What a boneheaded hire, but it created a vacuum, and now our beloved coach has returned home.

How many LSU fans would have thought JJ or any other coach could have brought Tony Mitchell to UNT? Zip, zero, nada!! JJ brought him to the UNT nation. The UNT Nation is grateful to say the least!!! I'll put Tony Mitchell's talent up against any current LSU, or SEC talent for that matter!!! With LSU's conference status and name recognition JJ will recruit great players to LSU soon enough.

Have faith, JJ will win at LSU or die trying. JJ's not going to the "other side" anytime soon so the LSU nation will just have to get used to returning to it's winning ways on BB. One things for sure, I wish there were some way JJ could be back at UNT, but not going to happen.

As bad as TJ was I surprised at all the negative comments about JJ. Oh, I know the famous Earl Lester, he recanted his JJ accusations years ago, but as in the press the retraction never gets as much attention as the media driven false accusation.

Les is very well spoken and eloquent when he is talking to players or recruits etc. Its only in the media where Les speak comes out.

No thanks. The former players who sat on the sidelines and/or sat on their hands in the PMAC over the past decade-and-a-half can have my family's season tickets.

I spent time supporting the program when they didn't simply because of who the coach was. Now they can spend time supporting it since "their guy" is in there.

I detest the way these same players who came out in support of Jones did nothing beyond showing up at Alumni Weekend during the post-Brown Era. If they withheld support-and its obvious they weren't in the media defending, supporting, or promoting LSU Hoops-that's fine.

I won't begrudge them that. I just hope they don't begrudge me withholding mine.

I'm sure between the Krewe de Clarence & Collis, they will drum up millions in donations and buy plenty of season tickets. They won't miss me a bit.

I can assure you I won't miss them, seeing as how I never saw them when times were tough.

It took the whole presser and he didn't get close to winning me over. Believe Aleva has a job offer that is better than what he has at LSU and he's saving real coaches for the new schools hire.

Posting the Geaux Tigers emoticon after sounding like a petulant little child isn't going to draw you any supporters. I want LSU to succeed because I'm an LSU fan. Period. Unlike you, I'm not going to approach a new hire and the press conference with my arms folded like you OldSarge.

I know you're talking to someone else, but for the record, I don't want any supporters. I'm not charged with the success or failure of an LSU Sport like Men's Hoops. Or any other one for that matter.

I'm just registering my disgust with the antipathy of alumni and former members of the program who are now suddenly glowing, ardent supporters again.

I find it hard to believe anyone can look at this situation from that standpoint and be happy with our former Tigers in this program. It was-very clearly & unequivocally shown-that it wasn't about LSU for them.

I'm all for supporting LSU. I'll never trash LSU Basketball. I just won't take any part in supporting it. We bought season tickets when those former Tigers weren't lifting a finger in support. It was about LSU for me. It obviously wasn't for them.

So now that they're LSU Fans again, they obviously won't mind me not being around to cheer. They will be just fine without me.

Fairweather alumni of the program. No other way to slice it. Its pathetic in my view.

I'm completely okay with being called out, or being by myself on this one. Just my take.

So you're not going to support LSU basketball at all because your upset with a few outspoken alumni who went to bat for a friend? I wasn't really a fan of it but it is incredibly stupid and petty of you to hold that against Jones and the program.

Then again you're likely just throwing a hissy fit and will start showing up to games if/when it begins to succeed again

I am ready to give Coach Jones a chance. I think he has the backing of many high school coaches in Louisiana and he seems to be energetic.

I was not happy initially with the hire, but I am going to give my support to him and this team.

There is no more need for negativity and harsh words. I can't wait until the Fall to watch a fast paced and exciting brand of basketball.
