Is Vitello a better recruiter and offensive coach than Jay

Every year Vitello’s team has one of the best and deepest lineups in the country. Yes CJJ assembled a great team last year, but 2 of his 3 years at LSU offensive has been lacking. While at Arizona his offenses weren’t exactly nationally recognized.

Tennessee should have a dominant offense every year with that ballpark. Just looking at numbers is not fair. Of course they’d be better this year in any ballpark, but the point still stands.

Based off times to Omaha and success there…no

i reckon when Johnson is in hist 7th season at LSU, you will say ' man he has a lot of talent' too

Seriously, what is with the ability of our fans to compare coaches in completely different situations?!?
My favorite is Kim Mulkey vs Pear but nonetheless you would think the every day fan that watches LSU understands Jay Jonson hasn’t had half the time to build his program like Vitello has. Or maybe not.

Vitello has taken TN to the CWS twice
first time they went 0-2 they lost to Viginia and Texas
second time they went 1-2, they beat Stanford and lost 2 games to LSU
his record at TN in Omaha is 1 win 4 losses
in 6 years as the TN head coach he has 2 CWS appearances..give Jay 6 years at LSU and see where he is
Jay in his second year in 2023 at LSU led the team 6-2 (6 wins, 2 losses), and a NC at Omaha
give Jay a while to get his recruits to campus before you compare, but he already has 6X as many wins in Omaha at LSU ;)

Huh? His teams at Arizona led the Pac 12 in batting average 4 of the 5 full seasons he coached there.
His 2021 team was top 10 in the country in BA, runs scored, slugging and several other offensive categories.

PAC 12 is a very weak conference, very weak. But I do believe Jay Johnson was a great hire and is a great coach.
But Pac 12 is very weak, I mean weak weak.

it routinely gets teams to the CWS and they’ve won a few.
Oregon State, Arizona, UCLA, Stanford all have pretty solid programs.

Vitello is absolutely elite. What he has done/is consistently doing at Tennessee is remarkable.

They only made Omaha 4 times ever before vitello. They had a horrific program

I mean only one school had fewer SEC titles than Tennessee in baseball. Exactly who would you like to compare them to? Kentucky?
Ok fine. Tennessee baseball was like Kentucky football. Now they are year in and year out one of the best. Pretty impressive
