Combine that with the “great” game last Saturday and LSU is currently 2-0 in SEC play.
If they can be within 10 with 7:00 to go at Vanderbilt that will count as another “win”.

Well you have a lot of them to choose from

I totally forgot that LSU was playing last night. I don’t ever remember a time in my life where I felt so apathetic about LSU men’s basketball.
It wasn’t until I decided to check our portal recruiting later on last night that I saw the obit from the game. Verge needs to pull the trigger and get rid of McMahon ASAP. At the very least it would create a tad bit of fan excitement with him gone as our coach.

Wrong. Coming back from down 28 in the 1st half to bring it within 6 in the second half was the greatest moment of his time here. One of the greatest moments in program history actually

I would have to say that the SC team that started 9-9 before missing and I want to say that 6-7 of the 9 were 3 pointers puts a real dent into the scoreboard. The SC team shot lights out in the first half. I believe they could have thrown the ball the whole court and made it, for how everything was falling.
If SC did not start as HOT handed as they did LSU wins the game.
But on the other hand, McNevercloseagame needs to work on the last 4 minutes of a game because the defensive play at the end of the last 2 games that I have watched as been horrendous.

In my opinion, Woody’s pride gave CoachMc this season.
I told this story last week, but this is what happened. In the final month of last season LSU was in the midst of another terrible season. I suspect Woodward was considering making a coaching change. But also at that time there was a push being made by some influential people to get Wade back to LSU. Under no conditions were Tate and Woodward willing to consider that. They did not trust Wade and a reunion wasn't going to happen under their leadership. But Woodward/Tate were smart enough to know that if the LSU job became open while Wade was still at McNeese the behind the scenes push to get Wade back to LSU would have turned into a public roar. They did not want that. So the decision was made to not make the LSU job available.
Basically, the plan was to kick the McMahon can down the road for another year with the "lack of NIL funding...promise to increase it" PR narrative pushed out to justify keeping a HC with a .250 SEC winning %. There was some hope McMahon could actually turn things around. But the real reason was to take a year to get beyond the "Wade problem". They knew Wade would take a major conf. job at the end of last season. So the thought was that if they waited a year and had to fire McMahon at the end of this season, at least they would be doing so at a time Wade was out of LA and the push to get him back to LSU would be less.
What they underestimated is how vindictive the group pushing for Wade could be (including a certain resident of the Governor's mansion). THAT is why within 9 months both would no longer be employed by LSU.

The first half was the basketball equivalent to combat fatigue.

Matt McMahon is 14-42 in the SEC. Please let that sink in.

Something like half of those losses by double digits

It was awful. They tried to make it a game toward the end, but they could not overcome the hole they dug for themselves in the first half.

If it was against any other SEC team, that “comeback” would not even happen. South Carolina is a bad team. But this loser managed to lose by double digits at home.

Probably not.

Very bad. Bad enough that LSU should have easily won even without DJ and should have blown them out with him. Especially at home.

It was an awful performance.erformance.

They're not near as bad as they are perceived. They had a couple of games last year-- vs Texas and vs Arkansas -- which played out very much like last night's game. And about eight others last year which could have gone either way. Lamont Paris will build a winner in Columbia, in due time. He's already made the tournament once
