Maybe by the time he’s a senior if he’s in a good secondary like in ‘22. I think his ceiling is JBC.

He’s as good as we have on the roster . He is decent and at least shows some fight and effort , which is more than several players on this D.

He is not a CB1 or 2. He’s a below standard haul and we are seeing this. His ball skills and trail techniques are terrible. He’s not a starting SEC corner.

I'm old enough to remember when Patrick Peterson had freshman growing pains

He's our best option because of shitty recruiting and there's no reason to bang on the kid

Everyone should be awfully careful in threads like this. You're giving up on a 1st year player who's 18 years old. Could be a lot of cringe bump material in this.

No.

Zy is the best we have by a mile if we can keep him on the field.

This is what happens when you start dipping below the standard for CBs in recruiting.

Well right now we are trending up in that category.

I will one up you, hell 10 years ago the QB's we had wouldn't even be a take now. So there's that.

Stamps plays good D, he’s just small.
Stamps is listed at 6'0" - 190lbs which is the exact same as Derek Stingley measured at the combine. I think you're confusing him with PJ Woodland, who is listed at 5'11" 165lbs.

Zy Alexander is clearly our best CB

Stamps is solid for who he is, but he is not an All-SEC type guy by any shape of the imagination.

I like Stamps a lot. He competes. He is like a Travis Daniels type corner

Me too Les. He’ll get better. He has a good frame and decent instincts. He’s getting a better feel with each game imo. With some of our front 7 issues he finds himself on a bit too big of an island at times. Lets see how he develops.

He’s a sophomore but your point stands.

Kinda reminds me of Jalen Mills.

Young contributor and finding himself on the arse end of a lot of close plays. Ppl hammered mills for it if you recall.

in a perfect world you aren’t lining Stamps up at CB1 as a sophmore.

But I dont think he’s been particularly bad.

The most memorable players given up have been very good catches and a few
plays where they lined him
up deep and they caught something underneath.

I think he might not be great this year but he's being asked to do a lot at a high level and he hasn't had enough time to develop. Some guys just need more seasoning than others tp reach their potential, that's okay.

He's going to continue to get better, I think we'll all be really glad he was a a Tiger when all is said and done.

The problem is that we don’t have a true CB1 right now on the roster.

Zy is probably our best corner and as much as I like him, he’s the 3rd CB on most decent P5 defenses.
