Yes. Experince in college football is important. On top of the fact that these players have had a whole offseason to get stronger and faster.

Great thread...

Will ALL hinge on QB play....IF we get lots of the usual, painful and totally confused looks, directed towards our own sideline, come late Oct/Nov. you can expect yet another 2-3 loss season.

i'm not competing for 'the brilliant thread' award. it's a simple question........killer schedule with the same qb........he's still a big question mark, though a talented athlete and quality person !

I expect it. We'll see. Virtually our whole team comes back. We lost four good players, which are more than compensated by the improvement we'll get from the other 18.

Plus, one of those 4 was playing out of position as a tackle on the Oline. Also, the QB should be a lot better. I expect that we'll still see some wtf passes, but things should go smoother for him.

Well what I like is this...... We went 7-0 before the bama game and Brandon Harris done well not great but well till then! If im not mistaking he got his injury sometime during that game! I can't say that's the reason he regressed but it had to play a role! I think if we can stay healthy we have a really good shot! I would like to think that last year would have been different had he not got hurt!

Negatiger! Negatiger! This kind of talk will not be tolerated.

Btw, I agree.
But I do think we are better, so even if your scenerio plays out I say we only lose 2.

We were a pretty young team last year competing on the highest level and despite the loss to Alabama and the mental collapse that happened against Ole Miss and Arky, this team looked pretty damn good. Theoretically, LSU can't be worse than last year. And Bradon Harris is not as much of a question mark as the media wants to make him. The media loves trashing LSU QBs.

My bold prediction is that if LSU struggles this year, it wont be because of Brandon Harris.

It all hinges on oline and defense

Good QB play just puts us as an easy favorite.

But our defense has to be better

I guess it depends if you think players get better from their Sophomore to Junior year and if you think Dave Aranda is better than Kevin Steele.

Last year, people expected Fournette to break out...but it was far from a given that he would rise to the level of a Heisman candidate. This year, Fournette is a top 3 Heisman candidate.

Last year Brandon Harris was VERY young and it was a significant question as to how ready he was. There were questions about him being able to call the plays, handle the little things, etc. This year Harris is still unproven and certainly not a known quantity, but the questions about whether he's got the little things down are gone.

Last year, there were legitimate concerns about the WR position. This year, it is a known commodity.

Linebacker is still a concern.

DTs are more mature.

CBs situation is more mature.

It's hard to not think this team is better.

Etling will step in with no problem if BH can't get it done. He's more of a "Les Miles I-Form" QB than Harris is anyway...............

They really don't need to be better to go farther. It's a different year with different teams so looking at the schedule in context, LSU has a real opportunity this season to go far.

You'd have to try really hard to not be better than last year with this team and the new coaches.
