Tyrod Taylor is best comparison in my mind. Been in the league forever.

QB for Arkansas was like that. Can't remember his name but he had a long stride and when he would run it wouldn't look like he was running fast but would outrun everyone. JD reminds me of the antelopes we used to see on mutual of omaha when the lions would chase them.

Please. Jayden daniels is not better than a former NFL MVP.
What he’s doing is remarkable, but he’s not better than Lamar Jackson.
GTFO. In college, LSU made Lamar look very, very ordinary.

JD is better and faster

Whether or not he is
better than LJ was at this point in his career is an open question...but Lamar Jackson is a great comp for who JD reminds me of in playing style.

Pete Carmichael could make Mahomes look average
Carmichael would ruin any competent qb's career because he is not cut out for the NFL!

This season for JD as a passer is on a higher level than any of Lamar's college seasons. But JD also has better weapons to throw to and a better OL than Lamar did.
Lamar is a more natural runner. More elusive and more physically filled out.
JD has done more to extend runs this season. He has taken some hits, but also racked up a lot of yards. Last season he'd just kind of take it if it was there on a run, and often made it look easy. I think it's probably better for him to avoid hits when he can.
I think Lamar is better throwing on the run, and finding a pass play on the run while eluding pressure. He also changes arm angles for different throws at times.
Overall, I think JD is more accurate.

Jones was a long-strider.
Not quick, but very fast.
JD is quicker, but I think people say "deceptively fast" because he usually has a easy, smooth/graceful running style. He really turned it on against Missouri, so he looked faster.

Thinking of Matt Jones. Ran a 4.37 at the combine

Matt Jones? He was not that fast but could elude defenders with his long strides. And he had those two crazy long passes in the last 40 secs or so to beat us in 2002. That was a horrible loss sort of like the Iowa hail Mary loss. Shockingly Jax wasted their first round pick and took him as a receiver

What I find is so remarkable about JD is how fast he can get to top speed and then slow down and back to top speed.

I'm not joking when I say that I am not confident that Carmichael could out scheme the better high school DCs.

Better at this stage in his game. Daniel’s has two years against much better opposition than Jackson.

don't know about Jackson but Daniels has progressed in one season as much as ANY LSU QB in one season as I've ever seen. He now sees the recievers on the deep balls and delivers. He's a very impressive young man.
JD is a hard worker too. I’ve heard a lot of sound bites about him being in the film room as early as 5:30am the next day after a game. He is earning his contract he’s about to get. He wasn’t even in the top 10 of the QB prospects on lists I’ve seen coming into the season and he could sneak into a first round pick at this rate.
Actually I think just this weekend ESPN showed a graphic that had him 9th on some ESPN “experts” list of QB prospects! That’s absurd. I’d want him on my team.

Matt Jones was that fast.
He's one of the fastest QBs in SEC and CFB history.

Better passer IMO. Jackson is probably more agile
Completely agree with this statement. Jackson is just on another level with his speed and quickness. Having said that, Daniels is a much better passer than Jackson at this point. Jackson has progressed very well since coming into the NFL with his passing but in college, JD is a better thrower of the ball.

Much better passer. Jackson looked lost in bowl game vs LSU
Posted on 10/16/23 at 4:46 pm to TigerProphet
He's not as big, but his running style reminds me more of Vince Young than Lamar Jackson
Posted on 10/16/23 at 5:00 pm to TigerProphet
Jackson will never be the passer that JD5 is.
