No coach in the world would choose going 85-0 in sec play over 2 national titles.

I swear there is a portion of this fanbase that doesn't deserve a program with 2 of the last 3 national titles.

Who are these coaches that win national titles with cold teams?

It's like bashing JJ by saying he needed great talent to win his NCS. Who are the coaches winning NC with average or sub par talent?

Thank goodness for those 2 teams because ole Jay would be heading back to the west coach looking for a G5 gig.

This can't be real life. JJ is one of two current college baseball coaches with multiple national titles.

What lsu fan takes titles away from a HCs resume so he can shite on him?

I'm so glad Jay won a 2nd Natty, so idiots like you can't say but Paul Skenes, Paul Skenes. He literally won a Natty last season. It's not like he just won 1 or 2 forever ago.

Don’t forget he coached in another natty series, with another team.

LSU baseball will be back and the trolls will quiet down, JoeyPussy being one of them.

So below average regular season play and hope to get hot in the playoffs is ok with you

First, it is way above average to be above 0.500 in the toughest conference in college baseball.

Second, the three LSU coaches who have won titles had in common that they treated the regular season as practice for the post season. LSU has never had the regular season championships one would expect from an eight time national champion. LSU won their first national baseball title in 1991. Including that year, they have won eight national titles and ten SEC regular season championships.

It is a lot harder to win a national title than an SEC championship, so I would expect double the conference championships than national titles. You’ll hear people saying that an SEC championship is as hard, or harder, to win, but that’s obviously not true because to win a national title you have to compete against all of the good SEC teams plus the good teams from the rest of the country.

I can see ups and downs thoughout seasons in baseball, but these "Roller Coaster" type seasons is head scratching with Johnson.

It really has been an odd 5 years. No school puts more resources into baseball than LSU from year to year (some may be equal, or close, but none more). Yet, for the last 4 it has been either national championship or barely (in this case won't) make the NCAA Tournament. You wonder what is causing such wild inconsistency because LSU still seems to be recruiting at a very high level each season.

The razor thin margins in the SEC.

Not saying he can't bounce back next year, but where is this "We Win A Natty After a Bad Year" narrative coming from? It's happened a grand total of one time
Jay Johnson has taken a team to Omaha 3 times following the previous year where the team had a losing conference record.

Notice that other SEC ballparks hang signs touting their SEC Championships and some, SEC Tourney Championships. Lightweights. We have 8 National Championships!

I think that would explain things more if LSU were an average to above average team every year. That really hasn't been the case. LSU has either been a really good team (23, 25 - top 8 seed) or a (relatively) bad team (struggling to make the NCAA tournament in 24 and will miss it in 26). Right now they don't have a single win over a SEC team with a winning conf. record. Compare that to a program like Georgia who, despite playing in the same SEC, has consistently won (in conference) for the last three seasons.

OF COURSE, given the choice, 2 NCs couple with two below standard seasons, or 3 good seasons with no great postseason success, you take what Jay has accomplished. There just seems to be more than "razor thin margins" to explain the stark differences in results from year to year.

Or compare it to Ole Miss who has been up and down. Or to Mississippi State who has been up and down. Or to Vanderbilt who has been up and down. Or to Auburn who has been up and down. Or to Tennessee who has been up and down. Or to Texas A&M who has been up and down. Or to Kentucky who has been up and down.

Only Mizzou has been consistently down. Even South Carolina in 2023 wasn't terrible. Arkansas has been pretty consistently up, but perpetually puckered DVH can't coach not scared so he doesn't win in the post season. I'm pretty sure last year UGA had one of the weakest conference schedules, which is also more of an impact than it was before expansion.

The league overall is extremely good. And now it's older. Georgia subsists primarily on recruiting 3rd, 4th, and 5th year guys from the portal that specifically fit their ball park. It's helped in their regular season as older guys can be more consistent. But they still can't win in the post season under that waterhead.

Maybe, just maybe this outlier of a terrible SEC season is dragging his average down.

Yap. And it sure is nice to be able to start recruiting in May when your season ends in a regional every year.

So Woody only hired one, not two fantastic coaches.
Wait until Kim retires.

If Kiffin reads this board, he may start working on his Resume.
