USC does not want him. Not then. Not now. Not ever. And if, by some miracle, they would be stupid enough to offer him...let him frickin' go. Then do a real coaching search for a qualified and deserving candidate.

+1
THIS
Concur
HARRUMPH.

Throw him the biggest going-away party LSU has ever seen.

Then let's see if he can win anything like an SEC Championship or make the CFP.

As of now, he has done none of that.

We have him for 3 more years.

We have time to make this decision.

Yes. Time to extend.

He's now on dozens of AD's short lists. Some Power-5 program will offer him a 5-tear deal at the going rate.

Plus, Orgeron wants to be at LSU. Most HC's just want a gig.

Lets wait until that debt is paid before we talk about a new contract. Bonus, bonus, and more bonus.

Exactly. We need to finish all these damn buyouts before we go signing anyone to extensions. Plus IMO O needs to put in some more work recruiting before I am completely sold. One season isn't going to get him completely out of the woods with a lot of people yet.

Hopefully, it is one in the SEC West, and he takes it.

Nope.

Well I disagree. You underestimate how hungry programs are for a difference maker at HC.

And why would we have to worry about him leaving since this is his dream (version 3) anyways?

People's thoughts about their dream job change when their options change. You're crazy if you don't think the Orgeron buzz is real. Watch what happens if we keep this up.

Orgeron's advisors are not stupid and they know they have to strike while the iron is hot. Which is now or next week. Look for Da Caoch O to throw down the gauntlet in the next ten days and insist on being paid like a top level SEC coach.

I’m considered a cheerio or whatever and I wouldn’t extend his contract until after the season.

C'mon man. Common sense here

Too many extremes posted on the board. Orgeron needs this and next to see if he can rebuild a championship team before we talk extensions or firing.

How about playing out the next 2/3 seasons first ?

This is how teams get into terrible contracts and buyouts.

Miles last contract?
Gus' contract!?!

Coach O loves LSU enough that he probably is not concerned about an extension. I think he is that type of guy that most appreciate.

O is like Miles in that his coaching model isn’t going to work at a lot of schools.

Most school can’t recruit at our level, can’t afford assistants at our level, andnprobably need to bundle their HC with the playcalling/brain power behind one side of the ball.

Unless your Houston and your paying Applewhite to look like the HC while you let a Briles run yournoffense .
