If O finishes out well this year, he should be treated fairly... nothing elaborate, and I'm not advocating an extension. Just sit down with the man and have a talk.

People seem to think that good coaches (coaches that can compete each year in the SEC west) are so easy to come by. You can point to numerous programs that are changing coaches like underwear trying to find someone to win consistently in the SEC.

O's doing it. And in the Saban era.... how many can say that?

Urban Meyer left because it got too hard and now he has to play 1 or 2 tough games a year. Herman is in a joke of a conference. Sometimes you guys need to put this in perspective. The SEC west (especially LSU w/ Florida each year) is like a dam NFL division.

And Saban wouldn't be doing it if he weren't paying for his players.

So can Gus, look at that new shiny contract he got last year.

How is miles last contract treating LSU?

1. He needs to play Bama before we can say he’s competeing in the SEC West in the Saban Era. They are and will be fore the foreseeable futur the king of the Castle you gotta knock off.

2. Auburn, Ole Miss, and Arkansas are trash this year. We’re clearly on the top end, and you play the teams on the schedule, but this isn’t an NFL division. This isn’t even 2014 SEC West.

Gus has been inconsistent at best. 3 winning SEC records in 6 seasons. In those 6 seasons, he's likely to lose 4 or more games in every season except 1 of those (his first year).

I think Auburn felt they may not be able to do better than him.

O is clearly outperforming him.

And what year is O in?

How about playing out the next 3 then come back to your point about Gus.

they might be trash.. and count Tennessee in that, but if these teams were in a different conference they might flourish more often. Again, they are changing out coaches trying to find a way to compete at a higher level. It's tough to find that guy.

But would you rather:

1. Get behind a guy that is showing he can do it, and try and support him in every way possible (that includes us fans)
2. Or gamble like Tennessee and so many other programs that are essentially suffering for decades trying to find someone?

Gus was 13-11 in the SEC in his first 3 years.... Ed is currently 13-5

To be clear, I'm not saying that O is the greatest ever. What I am saying is that he shows a lot of promise and has done a really good job so far.

He got a 5 year contract with a massive buyout! He's in year 2!...year 2!!!!

How about pumping the brakes on a new contract FFS!

You can support a coach with out throwing a ton of money at him in year 2. Being overly emotional is how teams get in a bad contract. My point about Gus. He was. Lose to being fired in 16. Beat bama and won the west, new contract.

If you want him to have a new contract and extension, then he needs to show for the majority of his 5 years that he deserves it. Not getting one after 7 games.

I'm not advocating a new contract or extension.

All I am advocating is showing the man some respect. Sit down with him. Talk to him. And assuming he finishes out well, let him know we are appreciative. Map out a plan that works for LSU and for him if he continues to do well.

FINE, I'll get right on that during the bye week.

So...what does this actually mean, if not more money and an extension? A hearty handshake and an "atta boy?"

I'm literally asking because this is so vague as to mean almost anything.

And...what is it with the incessant need Orgeron people seem to have with "respect?" It's like 1990's rappers with this shite.

I think We’re in a position to continue to make a good educated decision, and we should do that.

I think He’s doing a great job this year. But there are plenty of coaches who have had one good year. I’d like to see him string a few together before we commit to him further than we already have. He’s under contract for another almost 3.5 years. It’s like riding out a rookie contract. You don’t extend a guy till he really has a chance of going somewhere else.

And like I said, good work should be rewarded. I would be fine with giving him a pay raise, but I think 3 more years is a fine commitment.

It's the same with O. Every Monday presser, except after Fla, he stats how "he walks in, makes suggestion on particular changes needed, they say yes sir that's an excellent observation and get right on it". Says this after every win, it's weird. Try's to hard to feel respected, as with people you mentioned.

Was it time to extend Les Miles' contract after going out 7 - 0 in 2015?

You are talking about an AD who extended Nikki Fargas instead of firing her, nothing is off the table. Hope Ed has some nice incentives in the event the Tigers keep winning.

LSU was the one fit where he could really thrive, mainly because he knows the recruiting landscape so well and has no contemporaries in-state. Les Miles wrote that blueprint. That is the main reason he has fit so well here. Not sure there is a huge market for him elsewhere. If he can prove this over a few years, I suspect he could get looks. But no time soon.

Coach O loves LSU enough that he probably is not concerned about an extension. I think he is that type of guy that most appreciate.

I think when the schools come calling he and his representation will sing a different tune.

He has a very convincing case. Who can boast the type of run that he's been on this season? Certainly not all 35 coaches that make more than he does. What the frick has Willie Taggart done?

No. It's time to beat Mississippi State.
