Is it just me or is Kentucky getting way too much hype for beating an AWFUL SC team?

I mean every sports media show in the country is hyping Stein and Kentucky football right now. Dude you were getting waxed by them in the first half and got out of there with a win by the skin of your teeth. To a team who has completely given up on their head coach.

Every team in the sec has dudes all over the field. The gap in talent is very close between most teams. They beat ATM on the road in a dominant way running the ball, and playing physical, with some big plays added in. I wouldn't discount 2 sec wins as nothing. It should be a fun game.

I've watched a good bit of Kentucky so far this year. They are legit but we should definitely cover IMO.

Im not saying they are awful. Im just saying they are way too quick to crown them when they are one play away from a horrendous loss

New innovative 1st time headcoach, unexpected road wins, exciting offense.
Not sure why this is a surprise.

You’re implying they aren’t good because they barely beat an awful team.

I’m saying Kentucky is far from awful and coming back from down 17 to do it shows that.

it's still a 40 plus million-dollar football team. There are serious athletes on that football team.

They're just being shittily coached lol

Going down 17 to that team is bad. I’m not implying they are awful. I’m implying they are average. And not deserving of this hype machines push

I think Kentucky will still be a good team that will probably finish 6-6 or 7-5. They had missed opportunities against Alabama. While Bama adjusted at halftime, Jay Bateman did not consider adjusting anything to counter Grubb's adjustments.

Then there was no way South Carolina should have lost to Kentucky, but Kentucky made adjustments. Maybe Bateman learned from the Alabama game he has to adjust to the other team's adjustments, and it paid off.

This is what's going to happen to Kentucky Saturday night --->

I think several things have happened that have resulted in them getting a bit too much undeserved credit:

1) Bama had several first half turnovers and the Cats were leading them at half. Bama then outscored the Cats 30-0 in the second half yet you constantly hear folks reference them beating Bama at half as if the second half never happened.

2) They beat A&M in College Station. At first glance I was impressed, then when I saw A&M here, no slight on us beating them down, but they were terrible and Reed could not hit the broad side a barn with a pass and the few times he did his boys dropped it. I think that win is a bit less impressive for KY than I first perceived.

3) If the Sellers doesn't fumble - totally unforced mind you - deep in KY territory late, SC likely wins that game in regulation - and SC may not be "Awful" but they ain't good.

I think that SC was favored in that game actually should tell us something.

I think they are getting some shine they really haven't totally earned.

Now they can beat us if we play with our heads up our asses like we did for the first half in Oxford. But this is a game we should win without much angst in my view.

agreed.

I don't know why this board has to piss on every opponent.

I'm actually glad UK is 4-1 and getting some attention. Makes this game much more interesting.

The season is much more entertaining when our opponents are good and have a good story.

Alabama was down at the half to Kentucky. Are they also average or do 2nd half’s count now?

I don’t watch them so I wouldn’t know, but UK dropped out of the AP poll after the win

If South Carolina without its best defensive player is considered an unexpected road win then you are kind of proving my point.
