All we heard all off season was how awesome this kid was and I am not impressed. He either can't get open or when he is, he rarely catches it. I think the reason he left Texas Tech was he wasn't that good. Thoughts?

Better than he's shown.

I know the kid had a lot of hype this offseason and I hate to bash LSU players (UNLESS your name is DJ Welter), but man, all he's shown me is he is not deserving of wearing prestigious #7

His highlight tape at Texas Tech was quite nasty though. I guess the DB talent in the Big 12 is a joke

Think it has more to do with where QB feels comfortable throwing the ball. Jefferson is his go to guy.

I mean this with the most respect to Giles completely, but it really makes you wonder why Greedy Williams was not given #7 this year. Seems like the most logical no brainer fit.

Giles is having problems creating separation. He's also been covered by some of the best DB's in the nation, weeks 1 and 3.

It's possible they have their #1 guy on him or are double covering him, but he hasn't been getting a ton of separation. I think it will come as more receivers prove they are a threat.

No.

However they haven't found his niche yet in this offense.

I don’t think he’s overrated as much as the system LSU runs isn’t the most conducive to his skill set. He’s more suited for a run and shoot offense.

I think Giles will make a few plays before the season is done.

I really do feel comfortable with him fielding punts though. I trust his hands.

Jefferson has been awesome but we need the other guys to step up when they start doubling Jefferson.

Unfortunately it seems he like alot of the LSU receivers cant get open. Jefferson seems to be the one that can create separation. the rest of the Wr's seem to struggle with that. Josh reed , beckham and landry seemed to always be able to create separtion even though they werent the biggest Wr's on the field. I hope we can get another Wr to step up because we will need more than one guy when we hit the big games coming up.

I’ve said it before there are 2 possibilities

1. He’s not good
2. We don’t have plays designed to get him the ball.

I am Starting to lean towards 1.

Even that one punt return he actually returned he didn’t look super fast, or explosive.

Covered by Big 12 DBs.

I think this has been the biggest difference for Giles so far. He's used to finding open spots in zones and he's probably manned up almost all the time by Auburn and Miami in 2/3 games so far.

We know Giles CAN play - he was their best receiver when he last played at Tech, and 2 guys behind him got drafted. I think he's just struggling with having to face much tougher defenses than he was used to seeing.

Also would give the young man more time before judging. But, several LSU WR's are WAY ahead of Giles right now in terms of sure-handed ownership of that ball.

He will shine when we run the wr screen.

He needs quick passes with time to turn and face the defense. He’ll make some guys miss on these types of plays.

He has real trouble getting separation from physical cover corners.

I think he's very athletic and has good hands, but just can't get open at this point. There is something on his film about not handling physical press coverage well and teams are exploiting that.

Ive been thinking the same thing... im just not seeing it either, and Ive been looking... Yes, teams have put their number one on him but he hasnt gotten any seperation...

Jefferson is def Burrow's go to guy... Sullivan has shown promise and Dee Anderson imo looks really good, very physical... Chase looks physical as well.. I honestly think those 3 are the best... Jefferson has great hands but not alot of speed, he gets caught from behind... but another poster is right... no way he should have been given 7... all greedy or devin white... they got that one wrong...

I think he'll make plays.

But he was put on the Bilitnekoff watch list and it's clear he's not on that level.
