Is BB in trouble?

When do we start really worrying about being able to fill a roster? Seems really odd that we still haven't seen any additions?

McMahon coaching a full roster vs. Wade coaching no one (which isn't going to be the case once the dust is settled). I take Wade every time.

How do you people function in the world? Wade has a long time to fill this team out. Be patient. There’s legislation on the table that could affect a ton of teams/players. Go for a walk or something. This is an old, dead horse topic now. Breathe

The insiders at On3 claim over and over that we have guys but they haven't annouced. The concerning part is that they believe its the players not announcing, not CWW or LSU telling them to stay quiet. Not sure what the reasoning is to stay quiet but to me that smells of looking for better offers.
Best case scenario is that we have these guys actually signed and are working on details of NIL or something like that which is delaying the announcements. WOrst case scenario, they are still shopping around.
For a guy like Paul McNeil, I could see delayng until you finish classes this semester because he will be enemy number 1 if he leaves to join the hated Will Wade.

Well, if they are enrolled in one school now and deciding to go to another school, maybe they'd rather wait until the semester is over to announce.

Basketball portal is much, much different than football. Classes haven’t ended and a lot of guys won’t announce until they get NBA grades back. There’s no rush for these guys to sign considering school doesn’t start til August, it’s not like football where you need to be there by fall camp.

The basketball discussions, like, I guess, most discussions on the Rant, seem to always take an "all or nothing" approach...with "competing" sides digging into positions without being willing to acknowledge there is a LOT of gray area within those extreme positions.
On that note, no, the amount of available players, on the whole, is not "running out". However, I do think it is reasonable to recognize the amount of uncommitted top 150 ranked transfers and HS recruits are...of which LSU, based upon publicly available knowledge, has only 1. I am thrilled Wade is back. But I don't think anyone who wanted him back did so because they thought he would be filling a roster with a bunch of second tier transfers and HS recruits. So I understand some of the "concern" when it seems like Wade is taking a different path than the rest of college basketball.
There is no reason to think he does not have a plan. All past history says that is unlikely. But I am a bit skeptical of the "several silent commits" narrative when it doesn't appear anyone else is really taking that approach. I think the most likely, reasonable scenario, is Wade does have 4-5 blue chip type transfers/HS recruits in the pipeline...even if we don't know that yet..with some secondary role players on the peripheral

I learned a long - long time ago, there is no use agonizing over recruiting until recruiting is done - and in this case portal - but same concept here.
I reserve the right to worry when it's over, but I absolutely have none right now. I feel confident I'll be pretty happy when all is said and done.

Yep, people are kind of dumb regarding the transfer portal now. You see it in football, too. Opening and closing dates are when you can enter. Once your name is in the portal, you can transfer at any time; the only thing that may be affected is when you can begin practicing with the team, since you have to be enrolled in classes to participate in practice during an ongoing semester or accepted for enrollment to practice in the summer.
I will say, though, that while I am not really worried, it would be false to say I am not a bit concerned right now about this upcoming MBB season. Not at all concerned about rehiring Wade, though. If season one is rough, it can't be any rougher than season 4 of McMahon's was.

This is another offshoot of mcmen logic. We have to get top 50-100 players to win more than 2 games. That’s false, Florida had zero on their national title team last year, Alabama had 2 the year they lost to UConn in the final 4. You don’t have to have 5* and top 100 guys to win, that’s part of the changing landscape of college basketball.

I get that but, if so, why haven’t others who’ve announced done the same thing. Plus, they’ve already entered the portal so it’s known they’re leaving.
