This is the second thread and tonights game didn't exactly make me feel any better about the move
that's fine, and not to be an arse, but to gauge your opinion, what do you think should be done with his line up spot?

Dont get me wrong, I'm disappointed in Nola's BA. BUT. We are playing the best baseball we have played all season and you suggest changing the lineup.
Our infield is playing great at this time. Our defense has found some chemistry. We have enough live bats at this time to compensate for Nola (its not like he never hits the ball). It is a trade off but winning requires a balance between defense and batting and I believe we have that at this time. National League teams deal with this scenario all the time with all their pitchers and they seem to work it out.

He hits 9th and is a FR. STFU.
and is a SS. In there for defense

While nola doesn't have a great batting average he still fills a huge hole in the infeild. also did you see the sac bunt that he put down on friday night? It was great. Give the guy a break he is coming from lhsaa baseball to the toughest college baseball conference in the country and is doing what is asked of him.

Maineri has no faith in him and makes him bunt everytime.
Everytime he bunted tonight there was 1 out or less with a runner on. Nola isn't a power hitter, so he bunts...no shite.
Also we're 10-1 since the defensive changes. I think I'll take it. You're kidding yourself if you think Landry should be batting right now.

Probably not...

I gotta say..I've been a fan since the late 80s when McDonald and Mouton were on the team but I've only been doing the 'TD' enhanced baseball viewing for the last couple of seasons..but its amazing to me how much better I feel like I know the teams. The gmorgan threads (and statsmen!) are a wealth of info..and any factual errors spewed are quickly corrected by others WAY more knowledgeable.
So, at the risk of kissing up to the clucker, its hard to measure how much this site has done for those who don't live around BR and don't get any LSU coverage (especially baseball) any other way.
Better than a seat behind home plate.

This site is a blessing and a curse. Its awesome when someone points out a benefit for the team as it is known to almost the entire crowd. but when someone spews some non-facutal bullshite, then yes its a cancer. I can't tell you how many times i've heard quotes straight from the rant at a football, basketball or baseball game.

Yeah, there's an art to 'managing' the info on this site.

yeah i think youre overreacting, he may not be the best hitter, but he is an outstanding freshman shortstop. he does lack the experience and it shows at times, but if he can get bust into it headfirst with top of the line SEC play he will have solid experience for postseason.
if you think about it most of the team looked shitty at the begining of the year. most of our best hitters from last year had the worst batting averages on the team. right about now they all seem to be returning to form (at the right time )
also take in mind that this wasnt cupcake U, this was a top 10 team. you want to try to get as many runs as possible, and if that means using one of your weaker hitters to try to squeeze a run out of the bottom of the order by bunting a guy over sounds like a good exchange.
i will agree with you here, i think one of our experienced guys should have pinch hit in that situation, but weve owned florida hitting all weekend so far so i guess mainieri figured hed give the kid a shot.

You can't say you felt good at the end of the game with the bases juiced and Nola up with him ending up striking out looking. At least for that situation I would have put in Buzzy or Pontiff to pinch hit, does anyone else feel this way?

At what point does his offensive liabilities outweigh his defense...and I wouldn't exactly say his defense was superb this weekend either, I would like to see LaMehieu back at short and Schimpth at second and Landry back in the outfield,
We are better defensively at short & 2nd base. More range & less errors. A hit taken away is equal to a hit at bat.
Defense is underrated-Ozzie Smith was a career .260 and one greatest SS of all time.

How's this......yes his defense makes us a helluva lot better than continuing to watch Landry strike out and pop up...you're an idiot....stupid post BTW

I am just trying to think of ways of how to improve the team
Not to be an arse or anything....but we're 10-1 since he's started at SS......

I just feel eventually Nola is going to become a bigger and bigger liability at the plate, thats all
And I feel he will get better in better being put in these situations........If we had been behind the last at bat, PM would have pinch hit for him. We weren't so you leave his excellent glove in the game a secure that lead.

Either:
1) You are related to Leon Landry
or
2) Your kid got his arse kicked by Nola in High School
This is the 2nd time I read this from you in a couple weeks. The team is 10-1 since the lineup change. He was their TOP recruit. Give it a rest, dude.

When you are strong defensively up the middle( Gibbs,Nola ,Dj and Mikie) you are going to win a lot of basball games!!! ie 10-1 since the change, Anyone who knows baseball will tell you that.

Hey I know what it like to question a LSU player on this forum while they are playing decent.
Last year I questioned LeMehieu's play at SS and everyone on this forum told me he's almost a guaranteed MLB hall of famer. They were camparing LeMehieu to the next Cal Ripkin. I agree he's an outstanding hitting SS and on occassion makes some superb defensive plays, but I was never that comfortable on the routine plays like I am with Nola at SS.
