With all the budget crisis stuff does it make anyone else just a little disappointed that people would rather give 15 million at the drop of a hat to fire a successful nice guy coach?

Dont get me wrong, its time for him to go and Im pissed that Alleva got us into this position with a 15 mil buyout but where are these types of guys the rest of the time?

LSU can't. TAF can. Which is exactly why TAF gave LSU 19 mil last year.

I'm smart enough to realize that the Athletic department's relationship with it's private fundraising arm TAF make your comments totally misplaced.

Any money spent on a buyout isn't money that would be used in university operations.

Yes I know athletic budget is separate from the scholastic budget. A large portion of the athletic budget and a large portion of this buyout money will be coming from donors/boosters. Yes I know thats 15 million spread over a couple years. However those are the same that would be donating to the academic side.

Not me. It's not my money and it certainly doesn't appear to be coming out of the university's coffers.

Exactly what does the state's current budget crisis have to do with the TAF being able to raise the money needed to buy out Miles?

Someone doesn't know the difference between TAF and LSU.

Why are people so dumb to realize that many schools have people that do something called donating to the school and not to athletics. LSU on its scholastic hand is begging for money while the athletic side can get 15 mil at the drop of the hat. Its a small state. These are the same hands exchanging money. Its robbing peter to pay paul.

IT'S THEIR MONEY you fricking commie. Contrary to what Barrack tells you, they did earn it, and THEY can choose what to do with it.

I think he means they could give that money to the school. I dont agree with him though. The Football program needs to thrive. It does attract students, Just look after winning a title and the enrollment numbers are always up. The success of the program also allows it to donate what it does already.

Now, what I dont agree with is throwing that money away at a chance of hiring someone better. You better make the right hire and hope the new coach can even match the success Les has had.

the only hard part of this is that Les is such a nice guy. Im a season ticket holder for over 25 years and watched the Curley and Dinardo flame outs. Didnt feel bad for those 2 but really do for Les. But it is what it is. We have become a middle of the road SEC team at best while spending the money for the top rung.
