They still can and they still will. People give to what they want to give to. And let me say this too, LSU collects a LOT more toward the academic side when the LSU football team is thriving.LSU football is the front porch. If the front porch is pretty, more people will come inside your home.

Yes I know athletic budget is separate from the scholastic budget. A large portion of the athletic budget and a large portion of this buyout money will be coming from donors/boosters. Yes I know thats 15 million spread over a couple years. However those are the same that would be donating to the academic side.

So what you're actually saying is, you're disappointed in the way rich private donors choose to spend their own money.

That sounds SO much better.

Exactly... Success in Athletics raises the University as a whole. I can't understand why we keep seeing these same posts over and over. I wish these people would at least research the way this stuff works before posting things like these.

I agree...in principle, but I don't know all the specifics.

At the end of the day TAF money comes from donors. I'm disappointed at the idea of potentially $15 million spent on someone to do nothing when the so much could (theoretically) be done to help the university.

Only about $300,000 of Miles annual salary is paid for by LSU.

That is somewhat Im saying. Mainly just disappointed that LSU academics cant sell itself enough to get 15 million when theres enough money to go around that Les can go from undefeated to fired in 3 weeks.

Have a downvote. LSU isn't raising this money, and if this wasn't happening, the money wouldn't be given to LSU.

Lol at all the people thinking they are smart for pointing out the difference between the LSU and TAF budgets.

I want Miles gone but it's still nauseating that we have that much money to throw around, but our budget situation is really poor and our endowment is a joke.

So what you are saying is theres millionaires in Louisiana who would only donate to LSU athletics and never give a dime to LSU academics.

LSU academics likes to overstate their problems so they get more money. The donors can donate however they feel. LSU football being good benefits academics because it gives LSU attention and it gives the TAF more money to send back to the school.

Adam, I know you don't like this move or Alleva from your posts but come off the ledge. Let it play out first.

As for the money trail, the boosters who are giving big money for football were only going to give that money for athletics.

Someone doesnt know that the people who donate to TAF could donate to LSU.

Ok, I tried to take up for you a little earlier, but now you're just being dumb. Businesses and individuals who are members in TAF aren't interested in LSU's graduation rate or the "excellence" of education at LSU. They're sports fans, it helps promote their business and it gets them box seats. But most importantly, IT'S THEIR MONEY!! This isn't North Korea, dude!

Not "we"

"them"

As in the people who earned that money.

Do you also get disappointed when these same people buy suites in tiger stadium?

What about when they donate for new facilities/upgrades?

What about when they buy a fancy new car or build a new extravagant home?

I'm legitimately curious where the end of this retarded rabbit hole you're running down ends.

Yes. And that's his point. That it is disappointing that they would rather spend it on a football coach than on academics.

You seem to be really angry about his opinion. and everything doesn't come back to Obama.
