I’m really nervous about Jobert… I know it’s not logical but he cost us the sweep in the field

His defense has been much better the last month.

Kentucky still presents a unique set of challenges with how they approach their game. If we can get their first batter out every inning I really like our chances vs how they like to play.

I also like Ty matching up against them a second time. He is a lot more mentally tough from the last time they faced off. If Skenes can get you through 7+ innings you have Guidry to close it out for game 1, then have Floyd and Hurd to get you through game 2.

They will without a doubt put pressure on the defense to field the bunt with and without runners on base. Tommy White has not been great with a runner at 2nd and he has to make a read to stay home or charge the bunt. Happened multiple times and they will expose that when in that situation. You almost need to concede the runner to 3rd and not call a read the bunt play and just tell Tommy to go get it and get an out.

Incorrect it’s UK. Tony V might be a a-hole but he has never interfered in play by screaming 2 2 2 as the opposing team is throwing it in, he also has never cried and said you can’t criticize him for being a bitch because he is a Christian and his team doesn’t do gay shite when they have two strikes on them.

Can almost guarantee that the team will be practicing these situations all week to prepare defensively for this weekend.

I don’t think the great batting average and HRs can completely discount this. However, yesterday was a nice step in the right direction. There were some clutch hits and sac flys to pad that lead late.

Kentucky ranks in SEC

Run differential: 3rd
BA: 1st
On base: 2nd
Runs: 6th
Hits: 4th
2B: t1st
3B: 1st
HBP: 2nd
K: 11th
Bunts: 1st
SB: 1st
GIDP: 14th

Their profile is not a good match for LSU. You have to hit, and keep hitting. And pray they can play good enough defense, because they will test it.

WHIP for UK and LSU are almost identical. This will play a major role this weekend paired with batting average with RISP. Kentucky is great at keeping runners off the bases, sacrificing runners into scoring position, and getting them in. Don’t have to score 10 to win every game if you’re keeping the other guys off the bases. These are more telling statistics in the means of looking at the runs scored.

It’s going to be a good series. We have to have timely hitting and keep the walks down like we did this past weekend. Those are both things we were not doing the last few weeks of the season. Nice to see Crews knocking it around again. Maybe Tanks can adjust this week and be dialed in to get us rolling like a freight train going into Omaha.

He sucks, but he's #3 just in the SEC:

1.Vitello
2.Van Horn

Nah until the other two actually interfere in play and then cry about being called out Mangina is 1.

No way? All I have read on the Tiger Melt is how LSU is terrible and can't score and leave runners on base.

These two can both be true

I think playing UK again is going to help us. We know what to expect with the small ball and I believe seeing it live once is good for the players so they will ready in practice this week.

Flip side - we just rake. There is not much UK can prepare for that. Plus with Cap coming on the last game with Crews, Beloso, Travinski and Pearson rolling - I am ready for a Tiger Victory Lap Saturday night

The theme of the week for the bullpen is don’t let the lead off batter get on base.
And Travinski needs to catch the ball

Or hit a home run for everyone that gets past him.

They rely on that crowd the inside of the plate to squeeze the strike zone. I hope our coaches point it out where their batter's are stepping over and out of the box on bunt attempts and some swings. I saw this yesterday in their game and I was waiting to see a warning or OUT called....
I believe they had over 20 HBP's during their regional.

The "good" for Kentucky is they played a great schedule and performed really well against NCAAT teams in the non-conf. portion. Series win over Wright St; Sweep of Indiana St., mid-week wins over Indiana and Xavier

The "bad" the only won two series over SEC NCAAT teams. 2/3 from Alabama; Sweep of South Carolina. They lost series to LSU, A&M, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Florida.

Jobert has been playing really well defensively lately. Surprisingly a very good athlete for his size.

Yap, but still a tough draw for lsu, as they are going to put the ball in play and run. Travinski can’t mis-catch 6-7 balls like he did over the regional, for instance. The cute defensive positioning with moving Dugas around is going to have to be re thought, too.
