3) Eli Drinkwitz (Don't sleep on what he's done as a head coach. 12-1 at App St, then goes to Mizzou and has gone 11-2, 10-3, and is 6-1 right now with a top 10 offense and defense)

People shrug off Drinkwitz bc he looks nerdy and makes wisecracks but you can’t dispute what he’s done at Mizzou, in the SEC mind you, and when you listen to the guy other than his sound bites he’s smart, likeable, and his players seem to love him.

Lanning would 100% be the first call, well before Kiffin

He may use that to get a ridiculous contract from Nike but Lanning will be the first call

Ideal scenario is Kelly leaves for PSU who would absolutely take him. He gets to be back in the Midwest where he belongs. And give me Drinkwitz

This thread illustrates why LSU shouldn’t bleed itself white to pay the BK buyout. There are no surefire hires out there. Which is why we hired BK in the first place. An experienced guy to bring stability to a program in shambles.

James Franklin is just like BK.

Kiffen would be just as expensive as BK, may not want to leave OM at all, or if he does leave OM or in cable goes to Florida. And also, Kiffen has not won anything meaningful either.

Lanning isn’t leaving Oregon for us lol

Clark Lea? Doubt he leaves Vandy but sure he’s worth a call. But again, don’t cry when Woodward gives him a huge contract. That’s what it would take.

Not a splash hire but would be a good hire.

My wife said that they are identifying coaching targets and Dan Mullen is at the top of the list.

Another very good coach who hasn’t won anything meaningful either. He was fired from Florida not long ago.

It’s just crazy to spend $50M to fire BK when there’s no clear better coach out there.

It was crazy to give BK that contract to begin with, but is the program really in a better spot riding this ship to the bottom of the ocean? Baker very well may see the writing on the wall and jump ship. How are you going to attract a good OC or DC when everyone knows your days are numbered?

It's Matt Rhule's job if he wants it.

PSU isn't paying a fortune for 64 year old Brian Kelly

There are absolutely better coaches out there. Every coaching hire is a risk, see Fickell in Wisconsin. But there are definitely better options than what we currently have. BK is just a big name at this point.

Drinkwitz is absolutely a better coach than BK right now and would be an incredible hire.
Jedd Fisch has done really well at Arizona and Washington
Alex Golesh is a better football coach right now than BK
Jon Sumrall is a proven program builder/rebuilder
Rhett Lashlee is young and has won at SMU
Brent Key has made GT a team that wins and plays hard nosed football.

Id argue thats a worse version of James Franklin and a worse option than BK

Sheppard is not an option. I know he is an LSU guy and was a good player, but he has zero college experience and zero head coaching experience.

Whatever we do, my good friend Posty said he’d be willing to do a benefit concert to help with the buyout.

Your first call is Saban. 2nd call is Lanning. They would both probably say no.

I would even say 3 is Brohm or Day. Brohm is very good. Kiffin over Franklin for sure.

Mullen has some appeal that I can agree with. We're gonna score some points on offense at least. Only thing would be who he'd hire for DC. and then if they suck, would he be willing to move on from them. That lead to his downfall at Florida

I have no problem with any of these guys. It’s just a lot of money to pay BK to hire one of them.
